Budimex focuses on the young. The general contractor continues its cooperation with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation – an organisation which, based on modern teaching methodology, helps young people develop pro-innovative competencies needed at work and in private life, such as: empathy and a sense of empowerment, creativity, teamwork, communication and problem-solving. The campaign is aimed at students of technical colleges and aims to develop their competencies.

Budimex, together with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation, toured schools all over the country and created the project ‘An internship that stays with you’. Thanks to it, 34 teams of students have been working on CSR projects since November 2022. Students who have joined the project can expect substantive support from Budimex. The company’s experts answer the young people’s questions regularly through a specially created communication channel. A Q&A session with specialists was organised in January.

‘We are happy that we can support the education system and share practical construction knowledge with young people. We hope that we will also be able to encourage students to study construction-related subjects’, says Marta Soboń, Head of Recruitment and Employer Branding at Budimex.

Budimex started cooperation with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation last year. In the beginning, a survey was conducted among students of technical colleges to gather information on brand recognition, as well as on young people’s career plans. An online survey was completed by 355 people. In September 2022, Budimex employees, together with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation, embarked on a tour of selected technical colleges across Poland. They visited 127 schools in person, and almost 12,000 students took part in the meetings. In addition, promotional materials were sent to 70 schools via a remote tour.

The visits to the schools triggered Budimex’s cooperation with almost 40 technical colleges across the country. Employees of the company have already started to give educational lectures to the students of these schools. Young people have also been invited to open days at the construction sites of Poland’s largest general contractor – at the Warszawa Zachodnia railway station, the Port of Gdynia and the railway drawbridge over Regalica in Podjuchy. Students will also have the opportunity to complete an internship with the company, which will start on 1 March this year.

The three best projects will receive awards, and the victorious schools will get money from Budimex to renovate their classrooms or equip them, for example, with computers, depending on their needs. As early as 21 April, a grand finale will be held in the Warsaw Służewiec district, where the achievements of talented teenagers will be celebrated.

Budimex has been supporting young people on their career paths for a long time. An internship programme has been in place for many years, and thanks to it, more than 1,400 people have gained their first work experience. The Budimex Startup Challenge Competition was also a great success, addressed to innovative enterprises and young technology companies offering products, services and solutions in the scope of energy, renewable energy sources and green technologies in construction. Budimex also established cooperation with students of a Krakow high school, who won the European Space Agency competition.

Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation

Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation was established in 2013 as a way of supplementing school education with practical skills. By working on their social project, young people develop competencies such as empathy, a sense of empowerment, creativity, teamwork, communication and problem-solving. Furthermore, as of 2019, there is a teacher platform through which the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation teachers can support young people as they go through the project.
