Artur Popko’s statement at the EEC Trends conference

The biggest threat to the Polish economy is: the unavailability of some funds from the European Union and inflation – said Artur Popko – during the inaugural panel of the EEC Trends conference.

The President of Budimex, together with Zbigniew Jakubas (Multico), Brunon Bartkiewicz (ING Bank Śląski SA), Paweł Borys (Polish Development Fund), Małgorzata Starczewska-Krzysztoszek (University of Warsaw) and Maciej Zieliński (Siemens Polska), discussed macroeconomic trends in the global and Polish economy.

But at the same time, there are many global processes that are an opportunity for the Polish construction industry. We are facing many opportunities. One of them is the transfer of some investments by global corporations from China to Europe this m.in Polish, i.e. the so-called “Brexit”. reshoring – emphasized Artur Popko.

The President of Budimex pointed out that in order to meet EU requirements such as the “Fit for 55” climate package, it is necessary to involve private companies to invest in the energy sector – in wind and photovoltaic farms on a larger scale than at present.

The panelists also devoted a lot of time to the possibilities of Ukraine’s development after the end of the war. Artur Popko emphasized the need to start design work in our eastern neighbor now.

As a government, we should create a fund for designing investments for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Designing costs 2-3 percent. of the entire investment. Having ready-made projects, we will be a natural participant in the construction process in Ukraine. Without it, we can be left out – said the President of Budimex.
