A three-dimensional pedestrian crossing will be built in Bartoszyce. At the beginning of September, Budi’s team set off to the north of Polish, where, thanks to the involvement of one of the mothers and an invitation from the city authorities, they implemented another of the flagship elements of the Hello ICE Budimex for Children educational programme.
The originators of the Hello ICE program have set themselves the goal of educating the youngest road users in the field of safe behavior on the road. The map of dangerous places near school facilities, which Budimex made available on the programme’s website, indicates several locations in Bartoszyce that are worth paying attention to. The Hello ICE team contacted the city authorities, who expressed interest in the project – together they took care of the necessary permits, confirmed the location and since September residents have been able to use a safe three-dimensional passage.
Three-dimensional stripes on the road look like an obstacle, which is why they encourage drivers to take their foot off the accelerator. In Poland, this is not yet a widespread solution. The first stripes of this type were painted in Lidzbark Warmiński on a bicycle path. Importantly, the optical illusion effect has already passed the test m.in. in India and Iceland, where drivers, seeing 3D markings, took their foot off the accelerator, and the speed of vehicles decreased by an average of 40%.
– As part of the Hello ICE campaign, Budimex will paint three-dimensional stripes in two more towns. But these are not all the activities carried out under the program. The most important element of it is the education of students in grades 1-3 and preschoolers in the field of road safety – emphasizes Katarzyna Wójcik, Expert on communication in Budimex SA.
This school year, Budimex will adapt its activities to epidemiological requirements on an ongoing basis. Safety Days will be organized outdoors or in the form of webinars. Schools and kindergartens can still apply for this year’s edition of Hello ICE to win a Safety Day at their school and a meeting with the hero of the action – Budi the tiger.
In 2019, as part of Hello ICE, Budimex organised Safety Days in schools and kindergartens, which were attended by over 800 children. As part of the program, 1400 reflectors and ICE (In Case of Emergency) contact cards were distributed. Currently, nearly 400 critical locations are marked on the map of dangerous places.
The Hello ICE Budimex for Children programme has received the honorary patronage of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
