On 22 June 2022, an agreement was signed on the possibility of cooperation between Bouygues Travaux Publics and Budimex S.A. in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Poland.

Bouygues Travaux Publics is a company that has been cooperating with EDF for many years in the construction of nuclear power plants around the world and in the case of EDF’s construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland, it will be responsible for the implementation of the construction scope.

Budimex, as the largest construction company in Poland, will complement Bouygues Travaux Publics in the implementation of the construction scope. A large machine park, an established position on the Polish market, as well as competence and experience in the implementation of the largest projects while maintaining the highest quality and health and safety standards is undoubtedly the reason why Bouygues Travaux Publics chose Budimex as a potential partner.

The French offer to build European Pressurized Reactors (EPR) for the Polish nuclear program has the strong support of the French government. “We want Poland to be part of EDF’s strategy and the European supply chain,” said Vakis Ramany, Vice President of EDF during the conference.

The potential nuclear power plant project will be implemented by the Power and Industrial Construction Division of Budimex SA, which  has completed several dozen energy investments in Poland and Lithuania. The largest of them was the construction of a new power  unit at the Turów Power Plant with an electrical capacity of 496 MW for the PGE Group, completed in 2021. The same Division has also completed selected sections of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline for Gaz System.
