The consortium: Budimex S.A. and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe signed today a contract for the modernization of the existing flue gas desulphurization installation and flue gas discharge system at TAURON Wytwarzanie Spółka Akcyjna – Łaziska Power Plant Branch
The concluded contract concerns the modernization of the existing flue gas desulphurization installation and flue gas exhaust system at the Łaziska Power Plant. The task will be carried out in the design and build system by a consortium of BUDIMEX S.A. and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe, and the gross value of the contract is over PLN 58 million. The construction works will last until September 2020.
The scope of work includes m.in. liquidation of the GAVO exchanger on FGD (Flue Gas Desulphurization Installation); construction of an additional “wet” chimney to discharge fumes from the absorber; modernization of the absorber consisting in the construction of a sieve shelf to improve the efficiency of desulphurization; connection of flues of flue gas ducts of units 9 and 10 with flue of flues of units 11 and 12 together with installation of tight flaps enabling any configuration of the units to any FGD installation.
Budimex is systematically developing its construction segment of the energy and industrial sector. In October 2018, Budimex completed another energy contract: the Czeszów – Kiełczów gas pipeline for Gaz System SA. In addition to many projects in the waste sector and environmental protection, since 2014 the company has also been building a power unit in the Turów Power Plant in a consortium. The contract includes the design, construction and commissioning of a 450 MW power plant, as well as staff training at PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A., Turów Power Plant Branch. The construction is to be completed in 2020, and its total value is over PLN 3.5 billion.
