On December 15, 2025, drivers used the new Drezdenko bypass for the first time. The investment carried out by Budimex SA, the largest Polish general contractor, was completed well ahead of schedule. Instead of 34 months provided for in the contract, the work lasted 24 months. The new route takes transit traffic, including trucks, out of the city center, improving road safety, the comfort of life of residents and environmental conditions in Drezdenko.
The newly built Drezdenko bypass is a continuation of the provincial road No. 160 and is 3.56 km long. The scope of the investment included the construction of a class G road, a roundabout at the intersection of provincial roads No. 156 and 160, a bridge over the valley of the Noteć and Stara Noteć rivers with a length of nearly 346 meters, a railway viaduct, farm crossings, crossings for small animals, a drainage system, lighting and road safety devices. The implementation of the fourth stage of the investment allowed to divert a significant part of the traffic – especially heavy traffic – away from the compact, in some places historic buildings of the city.
The contract for the implementation of the fourth and final stage of the Drezdenko bypass was signed with Budimex on 4 December 2023, with the planned completion date of the investment in the fourth quarter of 2026. Construction works have been carried out continuously since the end of 2023, in demanding terrain and hydrological conditions. The investment was carried out in floodplains and in the immediate vicinity of valuable natural areas under Natura 2000 protection, in the buffer zone of forests and the Noteć Valley.
At the implementation stage, it was necessary, m.in, to strengthen the ground and perform land replacements. The roundabout in Klesno was built on an embankment about 9 meters high. At the peak of implementation, over 700 people worked on the contract. Mostostal Kraków, a company belonging to the Budimex Group, with strong production facilities and many years of experience developed in Poland, was also involved in the execution of key elements of the bridge structures.
” This investment shows that Polish engineering and construction teams are able to effectively implement complex infrastructure projects in difficult conditions, while maintaining high technical and environmental standards. Thanks to the experience gained on hundreds of kilometres of roads in the country, we were able to efficiently organise the works and put the bypass into operation much earlier ,” emphasizes Sławomir Krekora, Contract Director at Budimex SA.
Budimex has been a key contractor for road infrastructure in Poland for years. Every fourth kilometre of expressway in the country has been completed with the participation of a company that has technical facilities in Poland, employs nearly 7500 employees and systematically develops national engineering competences. This scale translates into the ability to efficiently implement investments that are important both from the point of view of the state and local communities. The company is also one of the largest CIT payers in the construction industry – over the last ten years, Budimex has paid over PLN 1.5 billion to the state budget, providing real support for the financing of the development of infrastructure and public services in Poland.
The opening of the bypass was accompanied by an event addressed to the residents, organized by the Town Hall in Drezdenko along with the broadcast of the ceremony. Budimex joined the initiative by preparing attractions for families, including the presence of Budi the Tiger and educational materials promoting road safety.
