The construction of the section of the S19 expressway between Haćki and Bielsk Podlaski Zachód, the general contractor of which was Budimex, has been completed. The new, over 9-kilometer section of the route will be put into operation on October 31, 2025 and is part of the strategic transport corridor Via Carpatia.
As part of the contract worth approximately PLN 327.9 million gross, two road junctions were built: “Bielsk Podlaski Północ” and “Bielsk Podlaski Zachód”. The western junction is equipped with two medium roundabouts and a four-lane roundabout, which connects the new course of national road No. 66 with its existing section. Seven viaducts, seven ecological culverts and two animal crossings were also built on the route. The scope of works also included over 1 million m³ of earthworks, the construction of foundations and supports for bridge structures, the reconstruction of underground networks and the use of nearly 175 thousand tons of bituminous masses.
– The commissioning of this section is an important moment for the inhabitants of the region and all users of the future Via Carpatia. Thanks to the high pace of work and the commitment of the entire team, it was possible to complete the construction according to schedule. The S19 expressway is a strategic investment that will improve the transport accessibility of this part of Podlasie, and at the same time strengthen the role of Polish
in the pan-European transport network,” says Robert Gromala, Contract Director at Budimex SA.
Ultimately, the S19 route will connect Kuźnica on the border with Belarus with Barwinek on the border with Slovakia. It will be over 580 km long, of which about 575 km will be expressway. The road will connect the three largest cities of eastern Polish – Białystok, Lublin and Rzeszów – being part of one of the most important communication routes in Europe on the north-south line. In the Podlaskie Voivodeship, its length will be about 175 km, and in addition, 5 km of dual carriageway national road No. 19 will be built in the Kuźnica area.
Budimex, as the general contractor of many investments under the Government National Road Construction Programme and the 100 Bypass Construction Programme, plays a key role in the modernisation of the Polish transport infrastructure. The commissioning of the S19 Haćki – Bielsk Podlaski Zachód section is another example of the consistent implementation of strategic road projects by the company responsible for the implementation of
every 4 kilometers of expressway in Poland.
