On February 2, 2019 (Saturday), Budimex officially commissions a dual carriageway road connecting ul. Czerniakowska Street from ul. Wolicka. The section will be officially called Al. Polish Fighting. The investment was implemented from April 2017. commissioned by the Municipal Road Investment Board in Warsaw. The value of the construction works is PLN 39.5 million.

Scope of construction

The scope of the contract entrusted to Budimex included the construction of a dual carriageway road with a bituminous surface, connecting ul. Czerniakowska through ul. Nehru from ul. Wolicka. In the lane dividing the roads, on the section from ul. Planned Melomanów Street to ul. Planned Eastern Street, a reserve for the future tram route has been retained. Until then, this reserve will be used as bus lanes. Outside the road, four full intersections and two intersections with only right turns were made. The space along the new road has been developed with sidewalks and bicycle paths. At the same time, a water supply and sanitary sewage system were also built.

Traffic calls

Construction works on this investment were completed within the deadline specified in the contract. The variable grade line, i.e. the line connecting the height points of earthworks and the high groundwater level, turned out to be a challenge. This forced the fertilization of approx. 40 thousandm3 of reinforcing soil. However, Budimex specialists coped with this task, and the company granted the built route a 7-year warranty.

The two-kilometre section will be officially opened to car traffic on Saturday. “Despite the short length of the road, this route is very important in terms of improving communication in Dolny Mokotów. The section will help to decongest ul. Czerniakowska during rush hours and will be a shortcut between Wisłostrada and Trasa Siekierkowska – says Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex S.A.
