Budimex Group at TRAKO 2023

At the TRAKO International Railway Fair in Gdańsk, the Budimex Group will present the latest vehicles for the rapid modernisation of railway lines. There will also be a guest area on the exhibition tracks. The Polish general contractor will also be a partner of the TRAKO gala. It will be the first time that Budimex will be present in such a scope at the largest railway fair in Central Europe.

Tamping machine

It will be the Unimat 09-4×8/4s Dynamic – the latest universal tamping machine, which was officially handed over to Budimex during the TRAKO 2021 International Fair in Gdańsk. It is a double-deck, 10-axle machine with a capacity much higher than the older examples – approx. 1.2 km of tamped track per hour, with a smooth transition from track to turnout. Simultaneous track stabilization (DGS function) makes it possible to dispense with the need to bring in an additional machine, as well as to restore traffic after the track has been tamped at scheduled speed without introducing local time speed restrictions.

Roll forming machine

Another device that the Polish general contractor will show is the USP 2010 SWS ballast moulding machine. Roll forming machines are self-propelled machines that move ballast ballast. They regulate its amount in places where there is an excess of it, moving it to places where there is a lack of crushed stone. They use work units (work ploughs, collecting devices with rotating brush, conveyor belts, ballast hoppers and ballast chutes) to shape and profile the subgrade pile.

Budimex has three tamping machines from Plasser & Theurer: CSM 09-32 Duomatic from 2018 and two Unimats: 09-4×4/4s Dynamic manufactured in 2018 and 2019. In addition, the company has two track profilers and one track stabilizer. The company also has one locomotive and several dozen dump wagons for transporting crushed stone and platform wagons, as well as smaller equipment, including modern geodetic trolleys. Budimex Kolejnictwo also has a maintenance train, two-way vehicles and platforms for pulling out the net.

“Budimex already has over 80 units of rolling stock and track machinery. This is a scale that allows us to independently handle contracts carried out in Poland and abroad. Budimex tries to carry out all works using its own equipment. In the future, if we manage to win railway contracts abroad, the purchased equipment will also be used outside Poland”  – says Maciej Olek – participant of this year’s TRAKO fair and Member of the Management Board – Director of Railway and Energy Construction at Budimex.

Budimex will be represented at the TRAKO fair by m.in. Director of the Railway Construction Division Dariusz Baca, representative of Rail BX – Robert Nowacki and Director of the Czech Branch Rafał Zachuta. Budimex is currently among the top two largest general contractors for construction works on the railway network in Poland. The largest contract executed by Budimex is the Warszawa Zachodnia station, with a net value of PLN 1.9 billion. In September, Budimex was selected as one of the companies forming the Polish-Italian-French consortium that will build 230 km of the new Rail Baltica line in Latvia.
