Budimex has started the construction of an installation terminal for offshore wind farms. The general contractor is implementing the onshore part of the investment for the sum of over PLN 118 million. The Orlen Group is responsible for the project, which wants to build the first in Poland and at the same time one of the most modern installations of this type in Europe. Completion of construction is planned for the end of December 2024.
The task of the WTIV (wind turbine installation vessel) terminal being built in Świnoujście will be to reload, store and assemble sections of wind towers with foundations and other elements of wind turbines.
– This is a special investment for us. We have just completed the construction of the logistics terminal at the ferry port in Świnoujście. This investment is of great importance for our client and for offshore development in the Baltic Sea. It also has a short lead time, so it is an ambitious project. I am sure that we will meet all the investor’s requirements – said Artur Popko, President of Budimex S.A. during the ceremony.
The investment will enable m.in. construction of the first Baltic Power offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 1140 MW located in the waters of the Polish exclusive economic zone. The Polish terminal will handle investments carried out in German, Swedish and Danish waters.
As part of the agreement signed on Friday with Orlen Neptun II, on 8 September, Budimex is implementing the onshore part of the investment. There will be m.in built on it. component surfaces for offshore wind turbine components such as towers, blades
and gondolas. On a total area of about 17 hectares, communication infrastructure will also be built, as well as a new administrative and office building.
– The implementation of the contract will involve m.in. earthworks, such as land leveling, aggregate transport and spreading. We will also perform all works related to the construction of administrative and office rooms, a warehouse and parking lots from scratch. The works will last 17 months – says Sylwester Góra, Contract Director at Budimex S.A.

The 4-kilometre section has significantly improved not only local traffic, but also shortened the travel time from Szczecin to the Tri-City.
Recently, the residents of Szczecin have also been able to use 5 modern stages and the new building of the Polish Theatre, which can accommodate a total of nearly 1,000 spectators.
