From August 28, 2025, transit traffic on national road No. 79 runs along the new Leipzig bypass. The investment carried out by Budimex SA as part of the 100 Ring Road Construction Programme relieves the city centre, improves safety and comfort of travel between Warsaw and Sandomierz.
Drivers travelling on the Warsaw-Sandomierz route can already bypass Lipsko thanks to the newly built bypass of this city. The investment, implemented as part of the government’s Program for the Construction of 100 Bypasses, is 6.375 km long and runs in a north-south system on the western side of Leipzig. The beginning of the route is located about 350 m north of the intersection with the provincial road No. 754, and the end – about 500 m from the new route of the provincial road No. 747.
The construction of the bypass included the construction of four roundabouts, the expansion and construction of transverse roads colliding with the national road No. 79 and communal, district and provincial roads. As part of the task, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, a bridge in the line of national road No. 79 integrated with an animal crossing, two road viaducts and a system of culverts and animal crossings were also built.
” The new route significantly relieves the city centre, improves road safety and shortens the travel time between Warsaw and Sandomierz. We are glad that as Budimex we were able to implement this investment, providing infrastructure that is friendly to both drivers and the environment. Thanks to the new bypass, transit traffic will be diverted outside the built-up area of Leipzig, which will translate into improved quality of life for residents, reduced noise and exhaust emissions, as well as increased economic attractiveness of the region – Pawe\u0142 Ciepluch, Contract Director at Budimex SA.
The contract worth nearly PLN 110 million was signed in December 2020. The implementation was carried out in the “Design and Build” system, which meant that Budimex was responsible for both the preparation of documentation and obtaining all the required permits, as well as the execution of construction works.
Budimex is the largest road contractor in Poland – it is responsible for an average of every fourth kilometre of newly built expressways. The company also plays a key role in the construction of national roads, being the main contractor under the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads and the Programme for the Construction of 100 Bypasses, thus contributing to the modernisation of the transport network in Poland. The company’s commitment and scale of operations place Budimex at the forefront of the most important construction companies in the country.
