Budimex completed the construction of a 16.8-kilometre section of the expressway between Koszalin and Zegrze Pomorskie on time. The section will connect  the S-11 route running from Upper Silesia with the S6, i.e. the road from Szczecin to the Tri-City. As part of the investment, the general contractor built a two-lane roadway and numerous engineering structures – bridges, viaducts and flyovers. Infrastructure for environmental protection was also created, including animal crossings. The section was made in the design and build system. The contract value amounted to PLN 471 million net.

“It is an extremely joyful day when we can open such a long section from Koszalin to Boblice. This great way cooperates with smaller ones, with the improvement of the quality of life. The S-11 is a way of life for Central Pomerania, for northern Wielkopolska. A great way to create more jobs, better development of these lands, both residents and tourists will simply be able to enjoy a better life”  – said Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister.

We are handing over three sections on which part of the project’s contractors, designers, all those who organized the construction have spent part of their lives, but thanks to this we provide Polish drivers with a safe and comfortable road. I thank the contractors, I thank the supervision, I thank the cooperators of the general contractors. It is important to know that in Poland, investments are carried out by companies that have already taken root here” – said Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister of Infrastructure.

The S-11 section completed by Budimex starts from the north at the Koszalin Zachód junction and ends in the south at the Zegrze Pomorskie junction and is part of a 40-kilometre expressway running from Koszalin to Bobolice. The investment was completed within 27 months from the start of the works.

The S-11 expressway is one of the most important investments in Poland. The 550-kilometre route running through the Silesian, Opole, Greater Poland and Łódź Voivodeships will not only shorten but also improve the safety of travelling to the Tri-City and Szczecin as well as holiday resorts on the central Baltic coast. The S-11 is also an important investment from the point of view of the economy – connecting the Upper Silesian Industrial Region with the ports of the Upper Silesian Industrial Region. West Pomeranian Voivodeship will have a positive impact on the economic activation of this part of the country.

As a general contractor, for several decades we have been involved in key investments that have changed the image of Polish infrastructure. We are proud that the S-11 route, which is also crucial for the region, is being built with our participation. Realizing how important its role is in the bloodstream of the Polish economy, we made every effort to complete the work on time and we succeeded” – says Cezary Łysenko, Director of Infrastructure Construction at Budimex S.A.

“Infrastructure investments, due to their scale and significance, have their own specific requirements. We approach each of them with due diligence, also at the stage of assembling the team. The construction and contract team that carried out this task is one of the most experienced in our company in the implementation of difficult road contracts” – adds Robert Jastrzębski, Contract Director at Budimex S.A.

As part of the contract for the construction of a section of the S-11 expressway between Koszalin and Zegrze Pomorskie, Budimex has completed a dual carriageway road with a reserve of space for the third lane, engineering structures (viaducts, bridges and flyovers), access roads for local traffic, service areas, and drainage systems. Public roads, electricity and water supply networks were also rebuilt.

Budimex is constructing every fourth kilometre of expressways and motorways in Poland. 80% of the investments entrusted to the company are handed over ahead of time. In August this year. the construction of the 4-kilometre Szczecin bypass was completed 7 months ahead of schedule. Currently, Budimex is implementing m.in. the construction of the longest section of the S6 route in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, between Leśnice and Bożepole Wielkie, 6 road investments worth PLN 148 million in Katowice and the completion of works on the Sztabin bypass, along national road No. 8.
