Budimex has taken over the construction site of the Museum of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Jerzy Popiełuszko in the Trenches. The modern facility will be built in the place of birth of the priest and will have an educational and cultural function. This is another investment carried out by Budimex in the area of protection and dissemination of national heritage. The end of the investment is planned for the first quarter of 2027.

The building will be part of  the Podlaskie Museum in Białystok, run jointly by the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The new cultural centre will present the achievements of Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko in the context of the history of the region and the country, and its aim will be to disseminate the values he represented.

A symbolic and important place

The project is implemented under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS) Programme, under Area 1: Development of cultural infrastructure. The plot for the construction of the museum was donated by the Father Jerzy Popiełuszko Foundation “Dobro”, which also financed the architectural design developed by the Warsaw studio Nizio Design International.

For many years, Budimex has been involved in projects that serve to preserve national heritage and preserve history. The construction in the birthplace of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko is a special task and honour for us. As a Polish company with over 50 years of tradition, we feel responsible for ensuring that our work also supports the memory of the people to whom we owe what modern Poland looks like ,” says Mariusz Hurylski, Director of the Budimex SA Branch.

As part of the current contract, Budimex will take care of the construction of the museum building along with the necessary technical infrastructure and development of the surroundings. The investment is co-financed from EU funds. Budimex, as the general contractor, is responsible for the construction of the museum building, installations, finishing works and comprehensive development of the area around the facility. The completion of the works is planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Budimex has an extensive portfolio in the implementation of historical and symbolic investments. In recent years, the company has been responsible for the construction of the m.in Museum of Polish History at the Warsaw Citadel, the Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok and the new building of the State Archives in Bydgoszcz. Each of these projects plays an important role in documenting history and shaping social awareness.
