School is not only about lessons, tests and curriculum. It is also a place where young people spend a large part of the day, build relationships, develop interests and start thinking about their professional future. It is with these needs in mind that the new “Budimex Zone” was created, developed for the benefit of the District Centre for Continuing and Vocational Education in Wałcz and the Industry Skills Centre.

The grand opening of the zone took place on 24 March this year, the fourth such space launched by Budimex in Poland and another example of the company’s activities for technical education and the development of future staff for the construction industry. The “Budimex Zone” is intended to serve students every day – as a place to learn, relax and meet between classes. It is a friendly and functional place that is supposed to inspire, integrate and encourage the development of interests.

We want to be present where the competencies needed on the market are formed, and support students not only through internships or classes with experts, but also by creating places that are conducive to learning, integration and discovering passions. We believe that cooperation with vocational schools is a real investment in the future of construction and young people who will co-create this sector in the coming years. The Budimex Zone in Wałcz is an expression of such an approach – it is to inspire students and show that construction can be an interesting and promising career path – says Piotr Mandziak, Contract Manager at Budimex SA.

The opening of the Zone is a continuation of Budimex’s cooperation with the District Centre for Continuing and Vocational Education in Wałcz. In October last year, the company signed a tripartite agreement with the school and the Industry Skills Center in the field of Construction Works. The partnership aims to help better prepare future professionals to enter the labour market and strengthen the practical dimension of vocational training.

Budimex consistently supports the strengthening of professional competences of the young generation by engaging in projects for technical education. So far, the company has signed 27 cooperation agreements with universities and 54 strategic partnerships with schools throughout Poland.

Today, Wałcz and its surroundings are one of the important points on Budimex’s investment map. It is in this region that the company is implementing sections of the S10 expressway – a route that will connect Szczecin with Warsaw in the future and change the transport system of north-western Polish.
