Budimex is strengthening its cooperation with vocational education in the regions of its investments. On 24 October, the company signed a tripartite agreement with the District Centre for Continuing and Vocational Education in Wałcz and the Industry Skills Centre in the field of Construction Works.
This is the 47th school in Poland with which Budimex has established a strategic partnership. The aim of the cooperation is to educate future specialists in the construction industry, m.in. in connection with the construction of nearby sections of the S10 expressway.
The potential of local sectoral education
The partnership includes the leading educational institution in the region – the District Center for Continuing and Vocational Education in Wałcz, i.e. the popular “Budowlanka”. The school currently educates construction technicians in three grades: III (22 students), IV (24 students) and V (12 students).
The second signatory is the Industry Skills Centre in Wałcz, a specialized unit supporting the development of competences in the field of construction works, which further strengthens the substantive and practical dimension of the agreement.
Practice, knowledge and experience
The agreement includes the exchange of knowledge and experience and joint education and training activities. A key element is to provide apprenticeships to students. Budimex, as a substantive partner, will organise internships in line with the needs of the implemented investments, engage experts in lectures and conferences, as well as conduct practical classes and open days on the ongoing investments.
“The signing of the agreement in Wałcz is an important investment for us in the education of young people who can join our team in the future. Thanks to the cooperation with PCKZiU and BCU, students will gain practical experience on Budimex construction sites, and the best of them will be able to start their careers in our company ,” says Maciej Kańkowski, Contract Director at Budimex SA.
S10 – a strategic investment in the region
Budimex’s involvement in Wałcz is related to the construction of most sections of the S10 expressway. The road, with a target length of approx. 410 km, will connect Szczecin with the Warsaw agglomeration, running through Piła, Bydgoszcz and Toruń. This will create a direct connection between the regions of West Pomerania, northern Wielkopolska, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Mazovia. The aim of the investment is to create an alternative transport route from the centre of the country to the north-west to the A2 motorway.
Cooperation with PCKZiU and BCU in Wałcz is in line with the company’s long-term strategy. In addition to 47 partner schools, Budimex has concluded 27 agreements with universities throughout Poland.
