Budimex – the largest Polish general contractor – is inaugurating another student internship programme for 2019. What can students dreaming of a career in construction expect in the jubilee tenth edition? Internship salaries, medical care, gaining valuable experience in construction, with the leader of the Polish construction market. For 10 years, Budimex has been supporting the development of young people in the industry by organising m.in for them. paid internships as part of the Budimex Academy project. During this time, over 3 thousand students and graduates of Polish universities completed internships.

The program is very popular. On average, ten students apply for one place. At Budimex, we know that in the construction industry, practice is as important as theoretical knowledge gained at university. For this reason, we decided to give young people a chance to learn the specifics of work on a large scale even before obtaining professional titles, so that they enter the labor market confidently and consciously. Supporting their professional development also brings profits to us as a company, because thanks to the creativity and energy of young people, we can creatively and courageously take on new challenges posed to us by the industry – says Cezary Mączka – Member of the Management Board – Director of Human Resources Management at Budimex SA.

The value of the internships is confirmed by their participants. I have significantly expanded my  knowledge in the field of project management, the Industry 4.0 industry and many other topics. In addition, I worked in a great team with inspiring people willing to share their experience – says Aleksandra Puczowska, a student of Civil Engineering from  the Warsaw University of Technology.

Budimex gives you the opportunity to learn how to confirm your skills on important construction projects. In the technical office, we have access to the latest technologies. The opportunity to participate in projects such as the S16, S17 or DK12 road gives a lot of satisfaction, new knowledge and skills. Creating digital terrain models, routes, grades or modeling the bodies of designed roads provides a solid basis for being a designer’s assistant in the future – says Karol Zawada from the Warsaw University of Technology. In 2017, he completed an internship on the LK7 contract in Garwolin, and since June 2018 he has been an apprentice in the Technical Office in the road department.

Agnieszka Dedio from the Silesian University of Technology emphasizes the unique value of the internships themselves: You can learn a lot while being on the construction site. In fact, it is only during internships that you get to know everything from the practical side and discover things you had no idea about before. I wholeheartedly encourage you to take part in the internship at Budimex, because it is a reliable company with very well-qualified employees. Due to the knowledge and experience of the employees as well as the wonderful atmosphere, you can learn a lot and gain professional experience at a high level – adds Agnieszka.

The Internship Programme at Budimex – the way from gaining experience

Although students usually start the internship program at the beginning of the summer holidays, Budimex recruits people to complete them throughout the year. All you have to do is fill in the form on the www.akademiabudimex.pl website and take part in an online game, the result of which is part of the candidate’s assessment. An internship at Budimex is an offer for people who, under the leadership of experienced specialists, want to take their first professional steps and learn more about the specifics of working in the construction industry. In appreciation of the work of the interns, Budimex pays for the internships, and each of the students or graduates is also entitled to private medical insurance. – Internships last from one month to half a year, and during their duration we focus primarily on the student’s learning and development. For this reason  , each apprentice gains access to a lot of additional training, which they can take full advantage of, depending on their interests – says Cezary Mączka.

Budimex Academy – a compendium of knowledge about working in the construction industry

The Internship Program is not all that the Polish construction leader has to offer to students. As part of the Budimex Academy, young people will have the opportunity to meet experts from the construction sector at their universities at workshops. This is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge with practical tips from experienced engineers and the opportunity to get answers to bothering questions about working in the construction industry. From this year, the company, following the spirit of the times, also offers online education to students. Online training will concern, for example, soft skills important in professional work and issues related to building a personal brand. As part of its online activities, Budimex has also prepared a Facebook fanpage and a YouTube channel called “Budimex Academy” (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3fB1_awH_7P0oTF8lS0wwg), where you will be able to see what our contracts look like and listen to the advice of older colleagues. In turn, the Instagram profile “karierabudimex” (https://www.instagram.com/karierabudimex/) will be a source of short reports from the construction site and a place for virtual meetings with engineers, during which it will be possible to ask questions.

Students interested in railways under special supervision

This year, the Budimex Academy paid special attention to railway specialisation. With this construction sector in mind, a competition is organized for those interested in railways – #GraOTor. Meetings with full-time and part-time students are also planned as part of the #WejdźNaDobreTory week. They will be implemented from mid-March, m.in. at the Military University of Technology in Warsaw. ” Rail is a construction sector in which we want to invest intensively in the coming years, so we believe that it is worth taking care of the promotion of this field of study among students of technical faculties now ,” says Cezary Mączka.
