Budimex is one of the first construction companies to obtain the IRIS certificate and is also the first construction company in Poland with this certificate and one of the few (construction) companies in Europe. The certificate was presented to the company during the NOVKOL 2025 scientific and technical conference. The certificate was presented by Jacek Rębacz – UNIFE representative in Poland in the field of certification. It was received by Wojciech Błonicki, Budimex certification expert.
IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) certification is a global standard and certification system for quality management for the railway industry, created by the European Association of Railway Manufacturers (UNIFE). IRIS is based on the ISO 22163 standard, which is an extension of ISO 9001, but contains additional, railway-specific requirements ,” says Maciej Olej, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA. This certificate confirms that Budimex meets stringent requirements in terms of quality, reliability and safety, based on the ISO 22163:2017 standard and its later version. Owning it is often a requirement for cooperation in the railway industry,” says Maciej Olek.
IRIS certification is an international quality management standard developed for the railway industry, based on ISO 9001 and extended to industry requirements such as project management, configuration and RAMS (reliability, availability, maintenance, safety) aspects. In practice, this certificate confirms the company’s ability to deliver, in our case build, safe, reliable and compliant railway products or services, and that the organization’s competences meet high requirements, especially in terms of railway quality and safety.
