Budimex is launching a new social programme addressed to schools and local governments across Poland: Hello ICE. Its task will be to eliminate dangerous places on the roads near schools. The program will enable municipalities and schools, in addition to educational activities, to also make a real improvement in safety in the least safe places, m.in. by locating the passage for the 3D lanes. The program will be supported by Sebastian Mila, a former footballer, multiple Polish national team.
On the www.helloICE.pl programme website, Budimex has created an interactive map on which everyone can mark a dangerous place in their town. In this case, its creators count on the special involvement of parents and teachers. An interactive map will help you locate the “black spots”. The next step will be to work with local authorities to find solutions to eliminate them.
“The “Hello ICE” program is a response to real needs that we observe every day. The world is changing, there are more and more cars, children are increasingly moving around with a smartphone in their hands and headphones on their ears, riding electric scooters – all this increases the risk of accidents. That is why we want to teach children how to behave safely both on and off the road. We also want to identify dangerous places near Polish schools with the help of all of us and draw the attention of local authorities to them, and then eliminate the threats. – says Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA.
To date, 125 thousand children in schools and hospitals have benefited from Budimex’s social programmes: ICE Intercom and Parent Zone.
According to the Polish Road Traffic Observatory, every year in the European Union countries over 600 children under the age of 14 die on the roads. In Poland, in 2018, there were 2,680 road accidents involving children, including as many as 57 fatalities. In the case of the youngest, most fatalities and injuries are passengers, but it must be remembered that there are also pedestrians and cyclists among them. Every third child who died in an accident was on foot. That is why it is so important to educate children about safety from an early age. Budimex undertook this task by creating a social programme addressed to primary school students HELLO ICE, under the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Step 1 – we track down dangerous places

In this case, its creators count on the special involvement of parents and teachers. An interactive map will help you locate the “black spots”. Sebastian Mila, a former footballer and multiple Polish national team player, was involved in promoting children’s safety on the roads.
– I know from experience how easy it is to have an accident and a dangerous situation on the road. That’s why I decided to support the HELLO ICE program. I encourage parents, guardians, but also all people to mark dangerous points in their towns. Sometimes a simple action, such as painting 3D lines, illuminating a place, a speed bump can save a person’s life – emphasizes Sebastian Mila.
Step 2 – education through play
In addition to the interactive map, Budimex has developed lesson scenarios on safety, which will be available to primary school teachers. Their protagonist is a friendly tiger Budi. During the lesson, children will not only gain the necessary knowledge, but will also be able to try their hand at various quizzes, tasks and guessing games. From September to December, Budimex will organise a safety lesson once a month in one of the schools that apply for the programme. Budi the tiger, on the other hand, will guide students through a nearby pedestrian crossing, where 3D stripes will be painted at the end. Children will also receive reflective ICE cards (with the option to enter contact details of their guardians) to increase their visibility on the road and ensure contact with their guardians.
Step 3 – we appreciate commitment, i.e. the grand finale
The finale of the HELLO ICE program will be the organization of a safety town in one of the schools with the participation of the program’s ambassador – Sebastian Mila. Budimex will create a town in this institution, which will be most involved in promoting safety rules among its students.
Hello ICE is a new version of the ICE Intercom programme, which over the last 9 years Budimex has covered nearly 37,000 children from grades I-III of primary schools across Poland, educating and equipping them with reflective ICE (In Case of Emergency) cards.
The HELLO ICE programme has received the honorary patronage of the Minister of Infrastructure. The issue of the safety of the youngest raised by Budimex is important for the scope of the Minister’s own activities, and the award proves the special nature of the HELLO ICE programme and its great importance for infrastructure.
