Budimex SA has built an ecological office building. BIG for Ghelamco Poland

The leader of the Polish construction industry has completed the construction of another investment. Thanks to Budimex, Kraków has been enriched with a modern office building created for Ghelamco Poland.

Construction of the . BIG started in July 2017 and lasted 15 months until the occupancy permit was obtained. The entire construction, including the fit-out area, was completed in 2019. The cubic capacity of the entire investment is over 73 thousandm3, and its usable area reaches 10 thousandm2. The building is located in Krakow, at the intersection of Kapelanka and gen. B. Zieliński. It has four above-ground floors. The ground floor will be devoted to the service part. The building has a two-level underground garage, equipped m.in. in a bicycle parking lot with sockets for charging electric two-wheelers.

Ecological nature of the investment

The building was built in the BREEAM system, which means that both at the design and execution level, the investment has been subjected to a strict assessment in terms of its impact on the environment. “We wanted to create a building with high energy efficiency, which is why the office building has m.in installed. light intensity sensors that automatically adjust its power, depending on the time of day or cloudiness. In the pass-through parts and in the sanitary rooms, presence sensors were used to automatically turn on the lighting. In addition, the windows are equipped with reed switches that turn off the air conditioning in the area where the window is opened – says Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex SA.“It is also worth mentioning heating and cooling systems made with a strong emphasis on the quality of thermal insulation, or water saving systems, e.g. in washbasins. All this to make the operation economical in every respect – adds Paweł Opoka, contract director on behalf of Budimex.

It is also worth noting that the employees of the office building will have at their disposal over 200m2 of terrace located on the roof, from which there is a view of the panorama of Krakow, along with its most characteristic places – Wawel Castle and the Kościuszko Mound. – In this investment, we have managed to combine features such as functionality, elegance and ecological character of the building. At Ghelamco, we always try to meet the expectations of future tenants of our buildings. We are sure that thanks to the technologies used, the . Main tenant – American financial corporation

The main tenant of the finished investment is Bank State Street, for which Budimex SA has arranged four floors. – The Bank requires the use of special architectural and construction solutions. For this reason, we have equipped the investment with, for example, anti-terrorist protection, a system of mobile flood barriers, or a leak detection installation in individual rooms. In turn, in the underground garage, which can accommodate  125 cars, we have built safety locks– says Dariusz Blocher. The office building has also been equipped with a number of amenities that will respond to the modern needs of future employees. We are talking m.in. about a complex of sanitary and cloakroom rooms for cyclists. – Each floor has also been equipped with a separate server room and kitchen. On the top floor, there is a canteen, conference rooms and a relaxation room. The office building is not only to be a workplace, but also a space conducive to the well-being of its users – says Dariusz Blocher.
