Budimex SA has completed over 25 km of road

of the S17 dual carriageway expressway together with the accompanying infrastructure and engineering structures on the Garwolin – Kurów route. The investment was carried out for the General Directorate for Roads and Motorways. The works resulted in the creation of m.in on this route. three road junctions – Górzno, Gończyce and Trojanów, and two Motorway Service Areas. On both completed sections, a total of approx. 328 thousand tons of cement concrete, approx. 155 thousand tons of bituminous masses and approx. 3 million tons of embankments.

Works on both sections began in March 2017. and were carried out in the “design and build” mode. The road is made in concrete surface technology. The scale of the investment is evidenced by the numbers associated with it. Only in the case of the first task, the work was carried out with the use of 90 hardware units. Thanks to the construction of this section and the neighbouring ones by other general contractors, the S17 expressway is already fully ready from Garwolin to Lublin, i.e. for nearly 70% of the entire route – says Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex SA.

Section 1 – one kilometre of road in a 9.5 m deep trench

The over 12-kilometre section of the road from Garwolin to Gończyce has 45 ecological and hydrological-ecological culverts, two bridges and 6 road viaducts. – We have also built two road junctions. The first of them, called Górzno, will replace the current intersection with the county road, while the Gończyce junction is intended to connect the provincial road with the S17 expressway – says Jakub Drozdowski, Regional Director of Budimex SA. A kilometre of road in this section will run in a trench 9.5 m deep. – Its volume is equal to 323 thousandm3. This required choosing approx. 613 thousand tons of land, which in terms of trucks is equivalent to making approx. 24 thousand Courses – adds Jakub Drozdowski. At the section between Garwolin and Gończyce, the Road Maintenance Circuit, which includes m.in, was also erected. a workshop and garage building or a warehouse, housing approx. 30 tons of road salt.

Section 2 with an 82-metre viaduct

The road investment located in the Garwolin district, in the municipalities of Sobolew and Trojanów, is over 13 km long, and on its route there is the Trojanów junction and two Motorway Service Areas, named MSA Wola Korycka and MSA Mroków. As in the case of section 1, also in this project, a section of the road runs in a trench. Its depth is 13 m. – The longest structure of this section is the four-span WD-34 road viaduct, under which the main route S17 and two parallel roads run. The viaduct measures over 82 m – says Jakub Drozdowski.

The construction of the S17 expressway is aimed at better communication of eastern Polish and ensuring the free movement of people, goods and services, not only between the Mazowieckie and Lubelskie voivodeships, but also outside the country.
