On 1 July, the key section of the A1 motorway Stryków – the “Tuszyn” junction was officially opened, under which Budimex SA was the contractor for section III. The new section of the motorway will enable a quick bypass of Łódź, which will translate into improved conditions of road transport and travel in central Poland. The completion of the investment took place more than a month ahead of the contractual deadline.

In Polish, the A1 motorway runs through Gdańsk – Toruń – Łódź – Częstochowa – Katowice – to the southern border of the country with the Czech Republic in Gorzyczki. The A1 motorway together with the A2 motorway will constitute the basic road system stabilising the development opportunities of the Łódź Voivodeship. The investment will also improve the safety conditions for both pedestrians and car traffic.

– We are very pleased with the fact that we managed to complete the investment in accordance with the Investor’s wishes before the contractual deadline. Especially that we are entering the holiday period, and in 3 weeks the World Youth Days will begin. The key section of the A1 motorway Stryków – Tuszyn will provide high comfort of travel not only for the residents of the surrounding area, but also for the whole of Polish. – says Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

Thanks to the operation of the motorway, it will be possible m.in. taking over some of the traffic from the existing national and provincial roads and moving heavy traffic away from built-up areas. This will translate into savings in travel time, fuel, comfort and reduced risk of accidents. Importantly, the motorway will also have a positive impact on the m.in environment. by taking over a significant part of the traffic that currently moves on national roads No. 1 and No. 14 or by using security measures in the form of noise barriers, animal crossings, planting greenery and many others.
