Budimex starts the construction of a combined heat and power plant in Vilnius

The contract for the implementation of the investment between the consortium of Budimex SA (consortium partner with a 48.46% share), Steinmüller Babcock Environment GmbH (consortium leader), UAB Kauno dujotiekio statyba (consortium partner) and JSC “Vilniaus kogeneracine jegaine” (contracting authority) was concluded on 29 September 2016. The condition for the start of the project was m.in. obtaining funds by the investor to finance it. Contracting Authority on 31 May this year. gave the green light to start the work.

The task includes the turnkey construction of a complete thermal waste treatment plant and a system for the production of electricity and heat from the biomass combustion process with auxiliary installations. The new CHP plant in Vilnius will have a capacity to produce approximately 88 MW of electrical capacity and 227 MW of thermal capacity.

Contract value: EUR 178,290,983 net

Completion date: 32 months
