Budimex focuses on young people. The general contractor continues its cooperation with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation – an organization which, based on modern teaching methodology, develops pro-innovative competences in young people, needed at work and in real life, such as: empathy and a sense of agency, creativity, teamwork, communication and problem solving. The campaign is addressed to students of construction technicians and aims to develop their competences.
Budimex, together with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation, went on a tour of schools all over the country and created an original programme “Practice that will stay with you”. Thanks to it, 34 teams of students have been working on CSR projects since November 2022. Students who have joined the programme can count on substantive support from Budimex. The company’s experts answer the questions of young people on an ongoing basis through a specially created communication channel, and in January a Q&A session with specialists was organized.
– We are happy to support the education system and share practical knowledge in the field of construction with young people in order to support the education system. We hope that we will also be able to encourage students to study in construction-related fields – says Marta Soboń, Head of the Recruitment and Employer Branding Department at Budimex.
Budimex started cooperation with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation last year. At the beginning, a survey was conducted among students of construction technicians, the purpose of which was to collect information about brand recognition, as well as about the professional plans of young people. The online survey was completed by 355 people. In September 2022, Budimex employees together with the Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation set off on a tour to selected technicians across Poland. It was possible to reach 127 schools in person, and almost 12 thousand took part in the meetings. Students. In addition, promotional materials were sent to 70 outlets as part of the remote tour.
The visits to the schools resulted in Budimex’s cooperation with almost 40 technical schools in the country. The company’s employees have already started to conduct educational lectures for students of these institutions. Young people were also invited to open days at the investments of the largest general contractor in Poland – the construction of the Warszawa Zachodnia railway station, the Port of Gdynia and the railway drawbridge over the Regalica River in Podjuchy. Students also have the opportunity to do internships in the company, which will start on March 1 this year.
The three best projects will be awarded, and the winning schools will be funded, depending on the needs, by Budimex to renovate the classroom or equip it with equipment, e.g. computers. On April 21, at Warsaw’s Służewiec district, a ceremonial finale will take place, which will summarize the achievements of young talents.
Budimex has been supporting young people on their career path for a long time. The internship program has been underway for many years, thanks to which over 1400 people have already gained their first professional experience. The Budimex Startup Challenge competition, addressed to innovative enterprises and young technology companies offering products, services and solutions in the field of energy, renewable energy sources and green technologies in construction, also turned out to be a great success. Budimex has also established cooperation with students of the Kraków high school who won the European Space Agency competition.
Zwolnieni z Teorii Foundation
Zwolnieni z Teorii was established in 2013 as a supplement to school education with practical skills. Young people, working on their social project, develop competences such as: empathy, a sense of agency, creativity, teamwork, communication and problem solving. In addition, since 2019, a teacher platform has been in operation, thanks to which teachers of Zwolnieni z Teorii can support young people in the project process.
