On the occasion of Fat Thursday, Budimex supports local businesses operating in the vicinity of the construction route of the Tram to Wilanów. Tomorrow – February 16 – residents in three locations in Mokotów and Wilanów will be treated to doughnuts and coffee on the initiative of the general contractor. The sweets were prepared by the local confectionery Truskawka. It is a well-known and popular place on the confectionery map of Warsaw.
Budimex – the largest Polish general construction contractor has been implementing the largest tram investment in the capital for Warsaw Trams since September 2022. The route will connect Wola, Ochota and the Western Railway Station with Wilanów and Mokotów. In connection with the next stage of works and the extension of the construction site, Budimex has prepared information brochures for the residents of Wilanów and Mokotów about changes in traffic and a sweet treat – doughnuts from a confectionery located near the tram route under construction. Refreshments will be given from 7:00 a.m. at three points – at the intersection of the following streets:
– When implementing contracts, we always try to support the local community. In Wilanów and Mokotów, we are planting 400 additional trees under the name Przystanek Zieleń, and on Fat Thursday, together with the Strawberry confectionery, we have prepared some of the best doughnuts in Warsaw for the residents – says Grzegorz Zbierański, Contract Director at Budimex.
Strawberry is a small, family-run confectionery that was founded in 1980. Initially, it was one of the five so-called cocktail bars that served milk-fruit cocktails and whipped cream desserts. Throughout Warsaw, it was known for its fantastic cream cakes, which at that time were made by only two confectioneries, in the Hotel Europejski and Strawberry. A few years ago, the confectionery took 2nd place in a competition organized by the culinary monthly “Kukbuk” for the best Warsaw doughnuts.
Green Stop
Budimex has created a campaign called Przystanek Zieleń, as part of which it will plant 400 trees in Mokotów and Wilanów. The initiative is addressed to housing communities and cooperatives located a short distance from the construction of the Tram to Wilanów. Budimex wants to plant the first 130 trees in spring this year. To register a community or cooperative for the action, just fill in the application form on the www.przystanekzielen.waw.pl website. Applications for the first edition of the campaign can be submitted until March 15, 2023.
Changes in traffic organization
In connection with the changes in traffic organisation introduced by the general contractor on 11 February this year, Budimex asks you to drive carefully and comply with the new rules of road traffic. The temporary route is monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure the safety of drivers and residents of Mokotów and Wilanów as much as possible. Later this week, Budimex will install U-24 separators over a length of 25 metres on the section at Chełmska Street. For more information on temporary traffic arrangements, please visit: infoulice.um.warszawa.pl.
The construction of the tram route is part of a project co-financed by the European Union under the OPI&E 2014-2020. It also includes the purchase of 50 new low-floor trams, the construction of a depot in Annopol and the installation of passenger information boards at stops. The official name of the project is: Construction of a tram route to Wilanów along with the purchase of rolling stock and accompanying infrastructure. Its total cost is PLN 1 billion 190 million, with EU funding of PLN 555 million.
