Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe, part of the JSW Group, has signed a contract with Budimex SA for the construction of a complex of production and repair halls in Suszec in Upper Silesia. JZR’s investment is the first stage of the planned construction of a modern industrial center on the site of the former Krupiński mine, which JSW handed over free of charge on 31 March 2017 to Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń.
Under the contract signed on 14 March in Warsaw, Budimex will build new halls and carry out a comprehensive expansion and modernisation of the existing production and social and office facilities with an area of over 15,000 m2. Construction works will also include the construction of: internal roads, parking lots and storage yards. The facilities will use modern energy solutions such as photovoltaic panels and heat pumps. The company will implement the contract in the “design and build” system, and the contract value is PLN 48.4 million. The construction works will last until 2020.
“The signing of the contract with the general contractor marks the start of the actual implementation of the “JZR Development Program”, which will allow for a significant expansion of production and repair activities and technological development of our company ,” says Rafał Rychter, President of the Management Board of Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe.

Thanks to the investment, about 170 new jobs will be created in the commune, which will directly find employment in JZR.
–The signing of the agreement between JZR and Budimex is another step in the implementation of the company’s plans included in the “JSW Development Strategy for 2018-2030”. I hope that this investment is just the beginning of the comprehensive development of the 70 hectares left after the Krupiński mine. Our plan for the industrialization and revitalization of these areas assumes the creation of a a modern industrial complex for the 21st century, which fits perfectly into the “Program for Silesia” and the government program “Strategy for Responsible Development” – said Daniel Ozon, President of the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa.
This is a very important contract for Budimex. JSW Group is our new client and at the same time a valued player on the industrial and mining markets. We will be developing a modern facility for JZR and JSW Group, along with the entire surroundings of the project. We have extensive experience in designing and constructing industrial investments. Over the last six months, we have delivered two facilities of this type to investors in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship – a logistics centre and a diagnostic equipment factory. Local Silesian subcontractors will also participate to a large extent in the construction of production and repair halls for JZR – said Dariusz Blocher – President of Budimex SA.
Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has ambitious plans related to the revitalization of the area of the former Krupiński mine in Suszec. The company also wants other entities to get involved in this, thanks to which a modern industrial complex will be built in the post-mining areas, which will include m.in in addition to JZR facilities. a factory of hydrogen cells used in electromobility and a modern plant for carbon fibers produced from by-products of the coke process.
