The contract has a net value of PLN 332.9 million.
Budimex, as the leader (50.4 per cent of shares), will carry out the investment in a consortium with Keppel, Seghers, Belgium N.V and Cespa Compania Española de Servicios Publicos Auxiliares SA.
The incineration plant will be built at ul. Anders in Białystok. Thanks to the investment from over 90 to approx. 12 per cent. the amount of municipal waste that ends up at the municipal landfill in Hryniewicze will decrease. Annually, the new incineration plant will dispose of approx. 120 thousand tons of waste. In addition, electricity and heat will be generated from waste incineration.
“The winning consortium gained an advantage over the competition by proposing better technical solutions (in particular achieving the highest power of electricity produced), guaranteeing low emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere (especially nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide) and the lowest operating costs,” said Janusz Marek Szymczukiewicz, President of PUHP “LECH”.
“I am glad that we are starting the implementation of this investment with such a strong team, together with reputable and experienced partners. I believe that thanks to good cooperation with the investor, which is of great importance in the implementation of such complex investments, we will be able to complete this construction successfully,” said Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex.
Design works will begin soon after signing the contract, construction works – in 2013.
The scope of construction works includes land development (administrative and office building, roads, parking lots, squares, networks, fences) and the construction of one complete municipal waste incineration line, which consists of:
– the segment of acceptance and temporary storage of delivered municipal waste,
– segments of thermal waste treatment through incineration and energy recovery from incinerated waste,
– the segment of processing recovered energy and feeding it to the grid in the form of heat and electricity,
– flue gas treatment segment,
– slag processing segment with recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals,
– segment for stabilization and solidification of ashes and solid residues from flue gas treatment.
The contractor’s obligations also include conducting final and operational tests and obtaining a permit to use the incineration plant.
The completion date of the works is scheduled for the end of December 2015.
