On 19 January 2026, Budimex SA signed a contract for the design and construction of a more than 9-kilometre section of the S8 expressway in Lower Silesia. The contract worth almost PLN 384 million gross covers the construction of a section of the route between the Łagiewniki Zachód junction and the Niemcza junction and is one of the key elements of the future connection between Wrocław and the Kłodzko Valley.

The leading Polish general contractor – Budimex SA – has signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways Branch in Wrocław for the construction of section 4 of the S8 Wrocław – Kłodzko expressway. This section will be implemented from the Łagiewniki Zachód junction (without the junction) to the Niemcza junction (with the junction). On the part of the general contractor, the document was signed by Damian Nowakowski, Regional Director at Budimex SA. The implementation of the investment is the next stage of the expansion of the S8 expressway, one of the most important transport axes in the country, which in the future will provide a fast and safe connection between Wrocław and the Kłodzko Basin and the southern border of Polish.

The contractor of the task is Budimex, and the value of the contract is nearly PLN 384 million. The implementation of the investment will be carried out in the “Design and Build” system: first, the contractor will prepare the design documentation and obtain a decision on the permit for the implementation of the road investment (ZRID), and after receiving it, construction works will begin in the field. The investment is planned to be completed in the second half of 2029.

The scope of the investment includes, m.in, the construction of a two-lane Class S expressway with a cross-section of two lanes in each direction and a lane width of 3.5 m. The project also includes extensive environmental solutions, including animal crossings, ecological culverts, acoustic and anti-glare screens, and road greenery.

This contract is an important step towards improving the transport accessibility of the south of Lower Silesia. The S8 section in the area of Niemcza and Łagiewniki will significantly shorten travel time, improve traffic safety and relieve the local road network. We have a demanding design and execution task ahead of us, but we have the experience and facilities to implement it efficiently and with the highest quality ,” said Damian Nowakowski, Regional Director at Budimex SA.

Budimex SA, which has nearly 60 years of history on the domestic construction market, has experienced technical and decision-making facilities in Poland, employs thousands of employees and consistently invests in the development of competences – such as obtaining the ISO 19443 certificate, which confirms that the company meets the stringent quality and organizational requirements necessary to operate in the supply chain of the nuclear energy sector. Budimex regularly cooperates with Polish subcontractors and suppliers, and at the same time is one of the largest CIT payers in the construction industry, transferring over PLN 1.5 billion to the state budget in the last 10 years. Thanks to this, the company not only implements key infrastructure investments, but also really supports the development of the Polish economy and local communities.
