On 29 September 2015, Budimex signed a contract with the Szczecin Branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways for the design and construction of the S6 Goleniów – Nowogard expressway. The contract has a net value of PLN 279.6 million.
The scope of work includes the construction of:
- 19.2-kilometre section of dual carriageway expressway (two lanes on each carriageway),
- engineering structures (viaducts, bridges, flyovers, animal crossings, culverts over watercourses),
- transport hubs (Goleniów Północ at the intersection of national roads 3 and 6, Żółwia Błoć, Glewice and Kikora),
- access roads for local traffic, drainage system,
- reconstruction of public roads, power grids, water supply networks and construction of infrastructure for environmental protection (animal crossings, culverts, acoustic screens, partition nets, rainwater pre-treatment devices).
Budimex has 34 months to complete this investment (excluding winter periods from 15 December to 15 March).
National road No. 6 is of great importance for Pomerania. It connects the largest cities of Northern Polish: Szczecin, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Słupsk, Koszalin. It is a road connection between Polish seaports, from Świnoujście and Szczecin, to the ports of the Tri-City. From it, roads serving tourist areas branch north. It is also part of the transport corridor connecting the Kaliningrad Oblast with Western Europe and a connection to Lithuania – to Kaunas and Vilnius.
