Budimex will build a new runway in Pyrzowice

The contract has a net value of PLN 121.6 million.

The works will begin within 30 days of signing the contract. The new runway will be ready at the end of September 2014.

The scope of work includes:

  • construction of a 3.2-kilometer section of the runway made of asphalt concrete,
  • construction of taxiways and technical roads,
  • reconstruction of the radio navigation system,
  • construction of teletechnical networks for radio navigation and meteorological devices.

Preparatory works for the construction of the runway will begin in autumn this year, and construction works in spring next year.

The construction of a new runway at Katowice Airport is another contract of Budimex related to the airport infrastructure and the second for the Upper Silesian Aviation Society. In 2008, Budimex built an apron at this airport.

In November this year. Budimex has completed the construction of Lublin Airport. The investment was the winner of this year’s edition of the “Life in Architecture” competition. Also this year, the construction of the passenger terminal in Gdańsk – Rębiechowo was completed. The new terminal was awarded the title of “Construction of the Year 2011” and was among the winners of the “Wings of the Tri-City” competition.

Budimex is the contractor for the aprons of the airports in Gdańsk-Rębiechowo, Warsaw and Wrocław-Strachowice. In Wrocław, Budimex also expanded the passenger terminal (2008). The company has also rebuilt the runways at the Warsaw airport, and is currently expanding the take-off area there.
