On 7 February, Budimex signed a contract with the Municipality of Olsztyn worth PLN 72.2 million net for the design and construction of a tram depot at ul. Kołobrzeska in Olsztyn. The works will last 1.5 years.
As part of the investment, Budimex will build a tram depot with the necessary technical infrastructure. The following facilities will also be built:
- administrative and social building with a workshop and warehouse part,
- service and repair hall with a car wash,
- parking hall,
- gatehouse,
- traction substation,
- warehouse for track and traction elements (hall and storage yard).
Garage spaces for technical emergency and passenger cars are planned in the depot. The contractor’s responsibilities also include the construction of a 3-kilometer section of the tram track and road surface throughout the depot, overhead traction, installation of lighting and monitoring system, as well as fencing and land development.
Budimex will carry out the investment in a consortium with the Krakow-based company KZN Rail sp. z o.o. (Budimex is the leader with 84.6 per cent of shares).
