On 21 December, Budimex S.A. and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure, Andrzej Adamczyk, signed a contract for the design and construction of an 8-kilometre section of the S19 Via Carpatia expressway from the Kamień Junction to the Sokołów Małopolski Północ Junction. The gross value of the contract is PLN 286 million.
The road with two junctions, two Motorway Service Areas (MSAs) and a Road Maintenance District (OUD) will be built within 34 months from the date of signing the contract. The S19 section implemented by Budimex will be the last section under construction to connect Rzeszów with Lublin – the other sections between these agglomerations are already under construction.
We will start construction works in the first quarter of 2020. We will strive to complete the works as soon as possible – even before the planned completion of construction works resulting from the contract in April 2022 ,” says Grzegorz Domaradzki, Director of the Infrastructure Construction Branch South of Budimex. Another 10 km long section of the S19 to the north, from the Nisko Południe junction (without the junction) to the Sokołów Małopolski Północ junction (with the junction), is also being built by Budimex. The construction of this section will be completed in 2021.
We are the general contractor of three important sections of Via Carpatia in the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie Voivodeships. We are implementing several important construction projects in Eastern Poland – road and cubature, such as the Suwałki bypass, the Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok or the Museum of the Cursed Soldiers in Ostrołęka – adds Grzegorz Domaradzki.
The beginning of the Via Carpatia route is to start in Lithuania, run through m.in through Poland, Hungary or Bulgaria, and end as far as Thessaloniki in Greece. The new communication route has a significant impact on the development of the eastern regions of Polish.
