This Thursday, Budimex will construct a prototype section of the road surface in connection with the implementation of the project entitled: “Reclaimed asphalt: Innovative technology of mineral and asphalt mixtures using recycled materials of asphalt surface” (InnGA).
The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of the Road and Bridge Research Institute, the Warsaw University of Technology and Budimex S.A. and is co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development under the European Regional Development Fund – Innovative Economy. The aim of the project is, among other things, to demonstrate that the production of MMA with asphalt granules in quantities greater than permitted by the current regulations is technologically justified. It is also planned to modify the tooling of the mma plant so that it is possible to dose the processed asphalt reclaimed asphalt in accordance with the new technology.
As part of the research project, the construction of separate road sections is planned, where it is planned to use mineral and asphalt mixtures for the binding course and the substructure with a 50% share of asphalt granules and a 30% share of asphalt granules from the old SMA wearing course to the new wearing course, also made in the mastic-grit mixture (SMA) technology.
As part of the project, Budimex will construct two prototype sections of the pavement.
The first section will be made on the municipal road along Kielecka Street in Jędrzejów. The width of the roadway at this point is 7 m and the length is approx. 450 m. It is planned to make a bituminous base layer with a thickness of 7 cm (550 tons), a binding course with a thickness of 5 cm (390 tons) and a wearing course with a thickness of 4 cm (320 tons) for the renovation of the pavement. The works are scheduled for 29-30.06.2017.
The second section of DK 78, the section from the town of Nagłowice to the Orlen Station, over a length of approx. 1 km, managed by GDDKiA Kielce Branch, Jędrzejów Region. The works are scheduled for 13-14.07.2017.
The mixture built in the prototype sections will be produced in Budimex’s unique 2-drum bituminous mass plant located in Potok Mały near Jędrzejów.
Further development work will concern the development of procedures and production requirements on the example of a trial series and monitoring of the laid prototype section.
