Budimex will rebuild the Provincial Hospital in Toruń

The consortium of Budimex SA (leader – 95% share) and Ferrovial Agroman SA commissioned by Kujawsko-Pomorskie Inwestycje Medyczne Sp. z o.o. will modernize and rebuild the Provincial Hospital im. Rydygier in Toruń. The contract concluded on 22 November amounts to over PLN 336 million gross.

The provincial hospital in Toruń will undergo a thorough renovation and will significantly expand. As part of the expansion of the complex, 6 new buildings will be built with a total usable area of over 63 thousand. m2. The largest – 4 storeys, is intended for the hospital emergency department. It will have 12 operating rooms and 318 beds for patients, and a helipad has been designed on its roof. The new pavilions will also have 196 beds for patients of the psychiatric hospital and 39 for patients from the infectious disease ward and hospital outpatient clinics. After the reconstruction, the hospital will also gain a three-storey above-ground car park for 303 cars, equipped with a solar installation. Budimex has 36 months from the date of handing over the construction site by the investor to implement the contract.

After the expansion, the hospital will be enriched with a number of modern solutions. The operating theatre will be equipped with a multimedia room integration system, and the hospital pharmacy will be equipped with an automatic system for dosing and distributing medicines. Employees of the facility will also be able to use pneumatic tube, thanks to which passing various things to each other will not require moving from one building to another.

However, before the contractor starts the expansion of the hospital, it will perform a number of preparatory works – it will rebuild sanitary, electrical and teletechnical installations and carry out demolition works.

Budimex has extensive experience in hospital construction. He built, among others, the Provincial Hospital in Wrocław, the University Clinical Hospital in Białystok (stage I) and the Provincial Children’s Hospital in Bydgoszcz. Currently, it is in the process of building the Centre for Non-Invasive Medicine in Gdańsk and the second stage of the expansion of the University Hospital in Białystok.
