BIMERR is a project to extend BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology with tools supporting the energy renovation process of residential buildings. This international project, financed by EU funds, is implemented under the Horizon 2020 program. The project, which is innovative on a continental scale, is entering the testing phase, which is the responsibility of Budimex in cooperation with the City Hall of the capital city. Warsaw and the capital’s ZGN. The first measurements of energy efficiency and planning of thermal modernization scenarios in BIMERR technologies will be carried out in July, in a building in Warsaw’s Praga district.

The building, selected by the City and ZGN to carry out tests of new solutions, requires energy improvements. So far, it has been retrofitted with central heating and hot water installations, as well as connected to M.S.C. Currently, the first works using BIMERR technology are beginning, aimed at selecting the best thermomodernization scenario for this facility. Tests using the innovative technology will have an impact m.in in the future. on the energy efficiency of the building, and thus on the amount of bills for heat consumption.

BIMERR tests in the building at ul. Wiarusów will include a standard energy inventory, preparation of a building model using BIM technology, 3D scanning and thermography. As a result of the work, an energy and economic analysis of possible scenarios of thermal modernization will be prepared with the use of innovative tools, and the City will receive an energy performance certificate of the building in its current state.

BIMERR, implemented since 2019, aims to develop a package of modern tools to comprehensively support the energy renovation process of residential buildings. The project also involves the development of Scan-to-BIM technology, using smart glasses and augmented reality (AR). Thanks to this, the facilities will be able to be replenished m.in.
o the characteristics of materials and components that affect energy efficiency. The solution will also enable the analysis of residents’ behaviors that affect energy consumption.

As part of the project, additional applications will also be created to support the system, i.e.: for example. Renovation DSS. This application will be dedicated to designers of energy modernization of buildings and property managers. It will allow you to assess the possibilities of renovation, m.in. in terms of replacing heating systems, insulation materials or windows. It will also make it easier to estimate the impact of modernization on the economic indicators of the building. The second application – Process & Workflow Modelling and Automation (PWMA) – will be used to simulate the renovation process at every stage – from preparation to execution.

Research for the project will be carried out in Poland, Spain and Greece.  Due to the differences in construction law and discrepancies in the standards of building construction, Budimex SA, the leader of the test stage, and Ferrovial Agroman, will independently develop BIM models that will be used to assess the performance of BIMERR tools. This will create a set of guidelines and guidelines to improve the innovative package.
