Budimex has signed a contract for the extension of the existing national road No. 65 on the Gąski – Ełk section. The contract value amounts to PLN 186 million net. The task, in addition to a thorough reconstruction of the surface, correction of the road geometry and widening of the roadway and raising its general parameters, also involves the construction of a completely new bridge in Straduny and the demolition of the old structure. The works start on the day the contract is signed.

According to the contract, the contractor has 18 months to implement the investment, not including winter periods. The purpose of the planned extension is to improve driving comfort and adapt the road surface to carry heavy traffic, as well as to improve road safety by reconstructing the existing intersections.

Another section of the national road, important for the local community, will be modernized with our participation. The widening of the roadway and the improvement of parameters will directly translate not only into the comfort of travel, but also into an increase in road safety. Our infrastructure know-how allows us to complete such tasks on time and in accordance with the highest standards says Jakub Długoszek, Director of Infrastructure Construction at Budimex SA.

As part of the contract, culverts, intersections, loops and bus bays will be built and comprehensively rebuilt, along with pedestrian accesses, as well as pavements along DK 65 and in the following towns: Straduny, Oracze, Wityny.  The roads serving the adjacent area (additional roadways DK65) and road drainage will also be rebuilt.

Budimex is an experienced road infrastructure contractor, whose portfolio includes ring roads, expressways and national roads. Statistically, the company implements an average of every fourth kilometre of expressway in Poland. Budimex is directly responsible for the construction of the Suwałki bypass, the Tri-City Metropolitan Bypass, known as the “queen of Polish bypasses” or the longest section of the S6 route.

The company is also active in Ełk itself – modernizing the Ełk railway station and building national road 65, i.e. Norwida Street with a bridge over the Ełk River. In addition, the Pro-Medica hospital in Ełk was created as part of the “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children” is a unique space for the youngest patients.
