Budimex with a contract for the construction of a terminal in Świnoujście

Budimex has signed a contract for the construction of an installation terminal for offshore wind farms. The general contractor will carry out the onshore part of the investment for the sum of over PLN 118 million. The Orlen Group is responsible for the project, which wants to build the first in Poland and at the same time one of the most modern installations of this type in Europe. Completion of construction is planned for the end of December 2024.

The task of the WTIV (wind turbine installation vessel) terminal being built in Świnoujście will be to reload, store and assemble sections of wind towers with foundations and other elements of wind turbines. The investment will enable m.in. construction of the first Baltic Power offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 1140 MW located in the waters of the Polish exclusive economic zone. As the investor declares, due to the fact that the availability of this type of equipment is limited in the Baltic Sea, the Polish terminal will handle investments  carried out in German, Swedish and Danish waters.

Under the contract signed on Friday with Orlen Neptun II, on 8 September, Budimex will implement the onshore part of the investment. There will be m.in built on it. Component surfaces for offshore wind turbine components such as towers, blades and nacelles. On a total area of about 17 hectares, communication infrastructure will also be built, as well as a new administrative and office building.

“The implementation of the contract will involve m.in. earthworks, such as land leveling, aggregate transport and spreading. We will also perform all works related to the construction of administrative and office rooms, a warehouse and parking lots from scratch. The works will last 17 months” – says Jakub Długoszek – Director of Infrastructure Construction at Budimex.

Recently, Budimex has completed several important investments in the province of Szczecin. West Pomerania. At the end of August, 7 months ahead of schedule, the Przecław and Warzymice bypass, which is of key importance to the residents of Szczecin, was commissioned. The 4-kilometre section has significantly improved not only local traffic, but also shortened the travel time from Szczecin to the Tri-City.

Recently, the residents of Szczecin have also been able to use 5 modern stages and the new building of the Polish Theatre, which can accommodate a total of nearly 1,000 spectators. These are not all Budimex’s investments in this area. In July this year. 9 new stations for electric vehicles have been put into use by the residents of Szczecin, and construction works on one of the largest infrastructure investments in the region – the bridge over the Regalica River – will be completed within the next year.
