Budimex has obtained a decision on the permit for the implementation of a road investment for another section of the S10 expressway. The document opens the possibility of starting construction works on the seventh section Piecnik – Wałcz. The section under construction will be almost 16 km long and will improve transport in the West Pomeranian region. The planned completion is the second quarter of 2028.

The new section of the S10 expressway will connect the town of Piecnik with Wałcz and will run through the municipalities of Mirosławiec and Wałcz. The value of the contract is PLN 552.2 million gross. The route will be built outside the existing road system and connected to national road No. 10, which will improve traffic flow and travel comfort in this part of the country.

Key elements of the new S10 section

An important point of the investment will be the Piecnik junction, which will enable a direct connection of national road No. 10 with the new S10 expressway. As part of the contract, a Road Maintenance District will also be created, located along Kołobrzeska Street by the provincial road No. 163 in Wałcz. This facility will provide the technical facilities necessary to maintain the road and efficiently service the route during operation.

– Obtaining the ZRID decision for the Pięcnik-Wałcz section is another important  step on the way to the implementation of the S10 expressway. It is a demanding contract, but we are prepared to perform it organizationally and technologically. The investment is of significant importance for the region and the entire transport system of north-western Polish says Maciej Kańkowski, Contract Director at Budimex SA.

Safety and environmental protection

The scope of works includes the construction of 16 engineering structures, including road viaducts and animal crossings, both upper and lower. These solutions will increase the safety of road users and reduce the impact of the investment on the natural environment, in particular by maintaining the continuity of animal migration routes.

The S10 expressway is of strategic importance for northwestern Polish. After the completion of the construction, the new section will contribute to shortening the travel time between Szczecin and Bydgoszcz, improve the transport accessibility of the region and support the economic development of this part of the country. Budimex, as the largest Polish infrastructure contractor, is consistently implementing the next stages of this investment, strengthening the capabilities of the national road network.
