On January 20, 2016, the Olsztyn – Mazury Regional Airport was officially opened. The airport in Szymany is the only one in north-eastern Poland. The contractor of the take-off area with the guardhouse is Budimex, which completed the works on 30 June 2015, two months before the contractual deadline.

The scope of Budimex’s work included two tasks:

* construction of the landing area (runway, taxiway, apron for planes and helicopters, technical and fire roads, parking areas for airport maintenance equipment, navigation lighting and power grids) and a guardhouse building,

* development of a design and construction of ground radio navigation aid.

The net value of the works carried out by the company is PLN 89.3 million.

The airport in Szymany is one of many Budimex projects related to airport infrastructure. The company built m.in. a new runway at Katowice Airport, Lublin Airport in Świdnik and a passenger terminal in Gdańsk – Rębiechowo.
Budimex is the contractor for the aprons of the airports in Wrocław-Strachowice, Gdańsk-Rębiechowo and Szczecin-Goleniów (runway and aprons). At Warsaw Chopin Airport, the company built Terminal 2, landing fields, aprons, taxiways and rebuilt the runway intersection.
