On December 1, 2014, PGE Capital Group issued an order to commence work on the construction of a new power unit at the Turów Power Plant.

The investment worth PLN 3 billion 250 million net is being carried out by a consortium of companies: Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe GmbH (consortium leader with 55.38% of shares), Budimex SA (consortium partner with 22.31% of shares) and Tecnicas Reunidas SA (consortium partner with 22.31% of shares).

The scope of Budimex’s work includes:

  • designing
  • construction and assembly works along with the supply of steel structures,
  • delivery and installation of the electrical part and installation of control and measurement equipment and automation,
  • construction of a cooling system with the use of a cooling tower with a purified flue gas discharge system,
  • installation of the ash removal and slag removal system,
  • other supplies and works in the field of auxiliary farms.

After obtaining the decision to start the works, the company will start design work and prepare the construction site and facilities. Demolition of the foundations of the demolished cooling towers will also be carried out.

After the design stage, disassembly, demolition and interchange works, Budimex will commence construction works, i.e.: excavations and foundations.

This is a very important contract for us, because we want to participate in the construction and modernization of our country’s energy infrastructure. I am glad that we are working in a consortium with reputable partners for such an important client – said Dariusz Blocher, President of Budimex SA.

The company is interested in the implementation of further energy contracts. It carefully analyzes planned investments and participates in tender procedures in the field of energy. Therefore, Budimex also plans to increase the employment of specialists in the energy sector.

The contract for the construction of a new power unit with a net electrical capacity of 450 MWe (megawatt of electrical capacity), including the installation of a flow-through boiler for supercritical steam parameters, a condensing turbine with a generator and a wet flue gas desulphurization system, was signed on July 10, 2014. The consortium has 56 months from the date of issuing the order to start work to implement the investment.

The new unit at the power plant is one of the projects of PGE Capital Group’s ambitious investment program with a total value of approx. PLN 50 billion, which, through a significant reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust, will significantly reduce the company’s impact on the environment. In the years 2014-2020, the Group plans to spend approx. PLN 30 billion.
