Construction of the first three sections of the S8 starts

The first section of the S8 between the Kobierzyce Północ and Kobierzyce Południe junctions will be built by Strabag Infrastruktura Południe for the amount of PLN 309,777,961.23. The second section between the Kobierzyce Południe and Jordanów Śląski junctions was built by PORR for PLN 401,110,124.16, and the third section Jordanów Śląski – Łagiewniki Zachód was built by Budimex for PLN 355,614,315.9 .

Construction of the expressway between Wrocław and Kłodzko, included in the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads until 2030. (with an outlook to 2033), was divided into six shorter sections. Construction contracts have been signed for the first three sections, and the section from Ząbkowice Śląskie to Bardo is in the tender procedure. Later this year, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways – Wrocław Branch is planning to announce a tender for the section between Łagiewniki and Ząbkowice Śląskie. In the case of the last section of Bardo – Kłodzko, GDDKiA is in the process of preparatory works, the effect of which depends on the result of the analysis of its connection with the planned Złoty Stok bypass. After the analyses are completed, the preferred variant for which an application for a decision on environmental conditions will be submitted.  

The completion of the entire investment (Wrocław – Kłodzko) and the commissioning of the route for traffic is planned for 2028-2033. The government Programme also provides for the implementation of the further route of the S8, from Kłodzko to Boboszów and the border with the Czech Republic. 

Ultimately, the S8 expressway will be built on an 87-kilometre section of the road from Wrocław to Kłodzko. It will be an extension of the section of the AOW/S8 road ending at the height of Magnice near Kobierzyce. The route will have two carriageways, with two lanes in both directions and emergency lanes. In the future, the section between the Kobierzyce and Łagiewniki Zachód junctions can be extended by a third lane, using the reserve in the separation strip for this purpose. 

Wrocław (Magnice) – Łagiewniki  

The almost 33-kilometre section has been divided into three implementation sections:

Task 1 ep. from the Kobierzyce Północ junction to the Kobierzyce Południe junction with a length of approx. 7.5 km. The route will run along a new route on the western side of the existing DK8 and will run through the area of the Kobierzyce commune. The construction of two road junctions is planned: Kobierzyce Północ –  connection with DK8 and the A8 Wrocław Motorway Bypass, and Kobierzyce Południe  –  connection with the provincial road No. 346.  Between the junctions, on both sides of the route,  Motorway Service Areas Królikowice are planned. In addition, the following will be built on the section: a flyover that also serves as a passage for animals, two bridges that also serve as a passage for animals, four viaducts over the expressway, a viaduct along the expressway that also serves as animal crossings, four culverts, including three that also serve as animal crossings.    

Task 2 ep. from the Kobierzyce Południe junction to the Jordanów Śląski junction, with a length of approx. 13.8 km. The route will run along a new route on the western side of the existing DK8 and will run through the areas of the communes: Kobierzyce, Kąty Wrocławskie, Sobótka and Jordanów Śląski. The construction of the Jordanów Śląski  road junction is planned –  connection with the current DK8 and district roads DP2075D and DP1989D. In addition, the following will be built on the section: five bridges that also serve as animal crossings, seven viaducts over the expressway, three viaducts along the expressway (including one that also serves as animal crossings) and three culverts that also serve as animal crossings.       

Task 3 from the Jordanów Śląski junction to the Łagiewniki Zachód junction , with a length of approx. 11.2 km. The route will run along a new route on the western side of the existing DK8 and will run through the areas of the municipalities of Jordanów Śląski and Łagiewniki. The construction of two road junctions is planned:  Łagiewniki Północ  –  connection with national roads No. 8 and 39 and Łagiewniki Zachód – connection with provincial road No. 384. In addition, the following will be built on the section: two bridges that will also serve as a passage for animals, four viaducts over the expressway, three viaducts along the expressway and six culverts that will also serve as passages for animals.  
 
Łagiewniki – Bardo

Task 4 ep. from the Łagiewniki Zachód junction to the Niemcza junction with a length of approx. 9.3 km. The route will follow a new route and will run through the areas of the municipalities of Łagiewniki and Niemcza. The S8 expressway will run on the western side of DK8 and will only make little use of its route (usually in places where it will cross it). As part of the task, 25 engineering structures will be built (6 structures over the main route, 8 structures along the main route, 11 culverts)  

Task 5 ep. from the Niemcza junction to the Ząbkowice Śląskie Północ junction with a length of approx. 7.9 km. The route will run through the areas of the Niemcza and Ząbkowice Śląskie communes and will run on the western side of DK8, and will make little use of its course (usually in places where it will cross it). The construction of two road junctions is planned: Niemcza at the intersection with the current DK8 and Ząbkowice Śląskie Północ at the junction with the current DK8 and the county road No. 3165D.  As part of the task, 19 engineering structures will be built (4 structures over the main route, 6 structures along the main route, 9 culverts).

Task 6 ep. from the Ząbkowice Śląskie Północ junction to the Bardo junction , with a length of approx. 14 km. The route will follow a new route and will run through the areas of the municipalities of Ząbkowice Śląskie and Bardo. The S8 will use the course of national road No. 8 to a minimal extent, mostly at the intersections with it. As part of the task, the construction of two road junctions is planned: Ząbkowice Śląskie Wschód at the connection with the provincial road No. 385 and Bardo at the connection with the current DK8. In addition, nine bridges will be built (including seven that also serve as animal crossings), eight viaducts over the expressway, two viaducts along the expressway that also serve as animal crossings, and 16 culverts, including 14 that also serve as animal crossings. As part of the task, 35 engineering structures will be built (8 structures over the main route, 3 structures along additional roads, 8 structures along the main route, 16 culverts).
