Construction of the PepsiCo plant in Poland begins

On Thursday, August 26, 2021. in Środa Śląska, the construction of the PepsiCo plant was officially opened with the laying of the foundation stone. The project, whose contractor is Budimex, is PepsiCo’s largest investment in Poland. It is very important for the development of the Polish economy.

The opening of the construction site was attended by m.in. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, President of PepsiCo Europe Silviu Popovici, Mayor of Środa Śląska Adam Ruciński, President of the Legnica Special Economic Zone Przemysław Bożek, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA Artur Popko and President of the Management Board of ARUP Elżbieta Cichońska.

In the implementation of the investment, Budimex  is responsible for the construction of the plant with internal installations, including electromechanical works, as well as land development and technical infrastructure. The value of the investment is over PLN 350 million. The contract will be implemented in stages in 2021-2025.

The area of the building plot is 30 ha, and the building area is 54,700 m2. The building is to have the highest ecological parameters. It will be the first PepsiCo plant in the world whose design solutions will seek to reduce the carbon footprint already at the construction stage. The plant is to be equipped with advanced and technologically most technologically efficient production lines with the lowest consumption of energy, water and gas per 1 kg of production. The building is to be equipped with a water recovery system, technological heat with heat conversion into cooling and heating.

With environmental protection in mind, the company’s own photovoltaics will be installed in the office building and a high-class wastewater treatment facility, as well as electric car power points. The plant will be climate neutral.
