Ingka Centres has signed a contract with Budimex, the general contractor for the construction of the historic Ulrich Gardens complex in Warsaw. The works will take about 12 months. In the summer of 2022, the revitalized Gardens will reopen, creating an innovative, ecological space for rest and recreation for all Warsaw residents.
As part of the contract concluded with Ingka Centres, the owner of Wola Park in Warsaw, Budimex will carry out works related to the reconstruction and expansion of the historic Ulrich Greenhouses and Ulrich Park, as well as the modernisation of the Ulrich Villa and the Green Cottage. This is the next stage of the investment – since the beginning of this year, Revita Art has been carrying out the maintenance of the greenhouse.
The conservation works, which will take place in parallel with the construction works, bring us even closer to the atmosphere of this extraordinary place. We want the renovated space to remind us of the history of the Gardens from the times of the Ulrich family, but also to meet the expectations of residents and our customers, which they reported during public consultations conducted in 2018. That is why we have designed a recreational zone, while remembering about ecological solutions, such as the use of rainwater or green energy – said Artur Drączkowski, Project Manager, Ingka Centres.
We are glad that we can take part in co-creating a place that will benefit all local residents, regardless of age. A sustainable and innovative approach to investment is very close to our hearts, which is why we were pleased to start working with Ingka Centres on the reconstruction of Ulrich Gardens. In recent months, we have successfully completed the revitalization of the People’s Park in Lublin, and a year earlier we completed the first BREEAM-certified public facility in Poland in Marki near Warsaw – said Artur Popko, Vice-President of Budimex.
To ensure the safety of Wola Park’s residents and customers during construction works, the passage between the two historic greenhouses has been closed. Some of the parking spaces located in the guarded car park and between the Ulrich Villa and the Greenhouse have been excluded from use. The owner of Wola Park will keep you informed about any additional difficulties in communication routes.
The architectural studio WXCA and LAB3 are responsible for the concept of the development of the Ulrich Gardens. The gardens will be made up of Greenhouses and Ulrich Park, the Daily Garden, Ulrich’s Villa and the Green Cottage. A green space where innovation is intertwined with history. It was once the first greenhouse of the Ulrich family in Warsaw , where tropical vegetation and exotic fruits were grown.
The details of the investment, the history of the Ulrich Gardens and visualizations of the entire space after revitalization can be found on the www.ogrodyulricha.pl website.
