Budimex, in a consortium with Ferrovial Agroman SA, will implement one of the most important investments in Kraków in the coming years – the Łagiewnicka Route. Today, the investor concluded agreements with the European Investment Bank and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego for the financing of the road project.

The contract with Trasa Łagiewnicka SA was signed by the consortium on 17 March 2017. Its gross value is PLN 802 million.

The construction of the Łagiewnicka Route will run from the intersection with ul. Grota – Roweckiego to the intersection with ul. Beskidzka and from ul. Halszki. It is a 3.5 km long section. The project will also include the construction of a 2.5 km tram road. The route will connect the Ruczaj housing estate and ul. Zakopiańska with the Wola Duchacka and Kurdwanów estates. Budimex will implement the investment in the “design and build” formula.

The Łagiewnicka Route is one of the most important investments in Krakow in the coming years. Its key element is a tram line that will connect the Kurdwanów housing estate with ul. Zakopane. What is very important, the implementation of the Łagiewnicka Route opens the way for the construction of the western section of the so-called the third ring road of Kraków with the Pychowice and Zwierzyniecka routes. The project will contribute to relieving traffic in the area of the very center of Krakow – including the area of Trzech Wieszczów Avenue, it will enable the takeover of inter-district traffic from the center, which will translate into a reduction in exhaust emissions. That is why I am glad that such an important investment for the residents of Krakow can count on the support of central institutions, as well as the European Investment Bank. I believe that cooperation in the implementation of the investment program of Krakow with both the government of the Republic of Poland and international financial institutions will be continued,” emphasized Jacek Majchrowki, Mayor of Krakow.

Project scope:

  • construction of a dual carriageway street with a length of approx. 3,500 m, with roadway widths of 2×7.0m and 2×10.5m,
  • construction of engineering structures, including tunnels leading the main roadways of the route under intersections, a single-family housing estate and an area of post-production waste settling tanks of the former Solvay plant, the so-called “Construction of Waste Settlements”. “White Seas”,
  • construction and reconstruction of the tram line along with the reconstruction of the track at the tram terminus,
  • reconstruction and extension of ul. Zakopane,
  • reconstruction of the railway line,
  • relocation of the Wilga River bed,
  • development of above-ground areas (places above tunnels and within the course of the investment), i.e. plantings, a multi-generational Jordan garden in the theme of the “Dragon Square”, park-like development, a sports and recreation complex, pedestrian and bicycle paths,
  • construction of a cubature facility (the main control building of the CZTO Third Ring Road Management Centre),
  • construction of technical equipment for tunnels,
  • construction of road and tunnel drainage,
  • reconstruction and construction of equipment and networks of the existing under- and above-ground infrastructure,
  • planting greenery.

The works will last until the end of December 2020.
