Budimex has completed work on the construction of a complex of production and repair halls in Suszec in Upper Silesia. The investor of the project is Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe, part of the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa Group. The general contractor completed the contract in the “design and build” system. The net value of the works is PLN 53.1 million.
Budimex, in accordance with the investor’s guidelines, built new halls and carried out a comprehensive expansion and modernisation of the existing production and social and office facilities with a usable area of over 15,000 m2. The construction works also included the implementation of infrastructure accompanying the buildings: internal roads, parking lots and storage yards.
The facilities constructed by Budimex use modern energy solutions, such as photovoltaic panels and heat pumps. As part of the contract, a 671 kWp installation was installed on the southern façade of the social and office building, the roofs of the halls and the administration building. As many as 2100 photovoltaic modules with a unit power of 320 Wp were used.
The production and repair facilities designed and built by the general contractor will allow Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe to develop the production of machinery and equipment for the mining sector in Poland and abroad. JZR will produce and repair m.in there. rails of suspended railways, rollers, main pipelines, scraper conveyor routes and powered roof support sections. Thanks to the investment, about 170 new jobs will be created in the commune.

The general contractor has extensive experience in designing and constructing industrial investments. Over the last several months, Budimex has provided investors with m.in. two facilities of this type – the flood control reservoir in Racibórz and the largest logistics centre in Kałuszyn. Currently, the company is building the “Żelazny Most”, which is the largest waste reservoir in Europe.
