The Monopolis investment – was awarded in the world’s most important ranking in the real estate industry, MIPIM Awards 2020 in the Best Mixed–Use Development category. The building was also recognized in this year’s edition of the Prime Property Prize competition as the best commercial investment project in Poland. This is another award this year for the project implemented by Budimex.
The cultural and business complex in Łódź, Monopolis, received the “Oscar of real estate” during the prestigious MIPIM Awards ceremony in Paris. It is an international competition in which the jury awards the most outstanding architectural projects from around the world. 228 investments from 45 countries were submitted to this year’s competition, from which the jury selected 12 winners of the m.in. from Canada, France or Japan. Monopolis in Łódź was awarded in the category of the best mixed-use projects.
“It is one of the most technologically advanced revitalization facilities not only in Poland, but also in the world. We are extremely happy that our project is among the top four investments, along with Singapore, Montreal and Bangkok, i.e. cities that are famous for their urban and architectural development ,” says Artur Popko, Vice-President of the Management Board, Chief Operating Officer of Budimex SA.
The building won the second prize in the “Architecture” category in the Prime Property Prize competition. The award is granted to commercial facilities that bring innovative solutions to the market, set trends and are built with respect for the environment and the urban fabric. Monopolis is an example of a project that was created in accordance with this ideology. The basic assumption was to restore the cohesion of the entire post-industrial area of the Polmos Spirits Plant. Preparing the facilities to perform new functions was as important as maintaining their original appearance.
The revitalized post-industrial complex of the former Monopol Wódczany meets the highest standards of modern construction. The building has a BREEAM certificate at a very good and excellent level. Such a distinction confirms that all the technological solutions used are aimed at creating a comfortable and friendly working environment, optimizing operating costs and reducing negative environmental impacts. The general contractor also took care of the appropriate equipment of the building – an intimate square and green terraces on the roof were created in the complex.
– These are another industry awards granted to our investment this year. However, we attach more importance to the fact that the executed contracts are finalized on time than rankings. We want to keep our commitments and work with the best engineers and teams– adds Artur Popko.
In its 50-year history, Budimex has completed many investments for business and culture. The most important projects include a modern and energy-efficient office building. BIG in Krakow, which is also BREEAM certified and equipped with m.in. in a bicycle parking lot with sockets for charging electric two-wheelers. This is another example of an ecological project of Budimex, which recently received the prestigious first degree award in the “Construction of the Year 2019” competition in the “Office Buildings” category.
