Students from the Vocational Training Institute in Ełk, together with Budimex, the Forest District and Animex Foods and Rutkowski Development, carried out a forest planting campaign in the Przekopka Forestry. As part of the initiative, 960 tree seedlings were planted, involving employees of the Electric Power Construction Division of Budimex SA in Ełk, young people from the uniformed class and partners. The event combined environmental activities with education and integration of the local community.
The action began with a meeting with a forester, who presented to the participants the principles of proper tree planting and the importance of afforestation for the natural environment. Then everyone started working together in the field. The program of the event was complemented by a short self-defense training prepared for students and an integration bonfire combined with the presentation of gifts.
” For years, Budimex has been involved in activities that really support the natural environment. We are glad that together with the youth from Ełk and partners we were able to plant more trees and show that responsibility for the environment is built through concrete actions. Such initiatives have great educational and social value,” says Anna Karyś-Sosińska, Member of the Management Board of Budimex and Director of the Human Resources Management Division.
The Electric Power Construction Division of Budimex SA is developing its activities in the area of railway power engineering and high voltages. It executes contracts including, m.in the construction of railway and tram traction networks, the construction of traction substations, power stations and high-voltage and high-voltage transmission lines.
Budimex also consistently implements nationwide environmental initiatives. One of them is the “Green Stop” program, under which the company conducts additional, voluntary plantings of trees and shrubs in urban space. Thanks to this initiative, over a thousand new trees and shrubs have already appeared in Warsaw, supporting biodiversity and improving the quality of life of residents. Ełk is also one of the cities in which Budimex has already carried out pro-ecological activities, as part of the programme, m.in 20 hornbeams were planted there, involving the local community in activities for urban greenery and improving the aesthetics of public space.
For years, the company has also been involved in social and educational activities in north-eastern Poland, supporting local initiatives, cooperation with schools and projects developing environmental awareness among young people. The event in Ełk is another example of the company’s commitment to the development of the region and building partnership relations with the local community.
