The new crossing in Stronie Śląskie, destroyed as a result of the flood in 2024, was put into operation on December 1, 2025. Budimex – the largest Polish general contractor – made the bridge available to drivers four months ahead of schedule, while at the same time assuming the continuation of finishing works that do not affect the current passability of the facility.

The bridge on the provincial road No. 392 in Stronie Śląski was one of the most affected road infrastructure objects during extreme rainfall and the rupture of the reservoir embankment on the Morawka River in September 2024. The washing of the ground from under the foundation of the intermediate support and the displacement of the pillar caused irreversible destruction of the bridge, and the voivodeship authorities decided that its urgent reconstruction was necessary.

Budimex, as the leading Polish general contractor, which has been building key infrastructure in the country for years, started its activities immediately after obtaining formal approvals and signing the first of the agreements. Already on January 31, 2025, the company built a temporary crossing, assembled in cooperation with soldiers of the 2. Inowrocław Engineering Regiment and the Military University of Technology. The contract for the reconstruction of the bridge was signed on March 31, 2025, and the works – including the demolition of the destroyed structure and the construction of a new crossing – began in April 2025. According to its provisions, the deadline for completion of the investment is set for March 2026. However, thanks to the intensive organization of works and efficient cooperation with the investor, the bridge was put into operation on December 1, 2025, four months earlier than planned.

The commissioning of the bridge ahead of schedule was possible thanks to the very good cooperation of all parties and the full commitment of the team. We worked in conditions that were demanding both logistically and technologically, but the most important thing for us was to quickly restore communication continuity to the residents. We are glad that we were able to put a safe and modern crossing into operation before the start of the calendar winter,” says Paweł Wojnarowicz, Director of the Contracts Group at Budimex SA.

Making the bridge available to drivers does not mean the end of all works on the investment. In the coming weeks, Budimex will complete, among m.in, pavements, lighting, finishing elements and the final land development. These works will be carried out while maintaining full passability of the facility.

A new single-span, combined steel-concrete bridge, placed on piles, restores the full communication function of Stronie Śląskie and the surrounding towns. The project is the first completed bridge reconstruction in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship after the flood of 2024. The value of the contract is PLN 12.73 million gross.

Budimex is the largest Polish construction company, which has been successfully building road, railway, energy and hydrotechnical infrastructure in the country for several decades. The company employs a total of about 7.6 thousand employees in Poland, has technological facilities here, regularly investing in the development of national competencies, and is one of the largest CIT payers in the construction industry, with over PLN 1.5 billion transferred to the state budget in the last decade due to this tax. In recent years, the company has been responsible, among m.in other things, for the construction of the T3 terminal in the Baltic Hub, numerous hydrotechnical, railway and road investments.
