On 13 September 2015, 21 months after signing the contract, the Gdynia Film Centre was officially opened. The contractor for the investment implemented in the “design and build” system, worth PLN 32.4 million net, is Budimex. The architectural concept was created in the Arch-Deco studio from Gdynia.
The Gdynia Film Centre is located in the city centre, in the vicinity of the Musical Theatre, a few hundred metres from the downtown beach.
In the three-storey building with a simple, modernist form with a glass façade, there is not only the Gdynia Film School, but also three cinema halls for 45, 96 and 227 spectators, a film club, a restaurant and the offices of the Film Festival. The total area of the facility is over 3.7 thousand. square meters.
The investment also included an underground car park for 220 cars and a rail railway from Grunwaldzki Square to Kamienna Góra, which was put into use in July this year.
