In the children’s ward of the District Centre for Mother and Child in Piotrków Trybunalski, as part of the Budimex social programme, the 33. Parent Zone, where young patients and their caregivers will be able to spend time together.

Parent Zone. Budimex for Children is a nationwide social programme run and fully financed by Budimex SA. As part of the program, over 7 years, 32 comfortable places for children and their caregivers were created throughout Poland in children’s wards of Polish hospitals.

Opened on June 17, 2020, at the PCMD in Piotrków Trybunalski, the Parent Zone This is the first space this year specially arranged as part of the social program. This year’s edition is all the more special because in a difficult time such as the Covid-19 situation, it was possible to  while maintaining all safety measures, provide the little patients of the hospital in Piotrków Trybunalski and their caregivers with a colorful space that will add color to the hardships of everyday life related to recovery.

The space, which can be used by the little beneficiaries of the hospital from now on, is inspired by the Scandinavian style, with the predominant colors of gray combined with sunny orange. The Parent Zone was created in the place where the common room was previously located. A corridor belonging to it has also been arranged. An additional convenience for parents is a mini kitchenette.

Due to the need to maintain all safety and precautionary measures,  the opening of the Parent Zone was carried out in an intimate tent in front of the hospital, and the guests, complying with the requirements, kept appropriate distances by putting on protective masks.

Budimex employees, who each time help with the finishing works, this time decided to make the Parent Zone more colourful in a different way. They gave the Hospital a unique gift, which expanded the possibility of spending time together, also outside. Volunteers donated two park benches and numerous potted flowers, which were placed in front of the building surrounded by greenery. Now, when being outdoors is particularly lacking – young patients and their parents can safely spend their time, also outside the hospital walls. The Parent Zone in Piotrków Trybunalski was built, among others, by Budimex employees implementing the A1 Piotrków – Tuszyn motorway section. So far, 33 Parents’ Zones have been established in hospitals throughout Poland, which have already helped over 0.5 million children.

The programme is implemented and fully financed by Budimex SA.

Parent Zone. Budimex for children

Creating more comfortable conditions for parents and caregivers of young patients to stay in the hospital, and thus improving the well-being of children and facilitating their faster recovery is the main goal of the original and unique social program “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children”. Since 2013, the programme has been implemented and fully financed by Budimex SA. As part of the program, special zones for parents are separated in children’s wards of Polish hospitals. Depending on the needs and conditions in individual facilities, it may be arranging an unused room or a fragment of a corridor, equipping the hospital with an appropriate number of folding beds or sanitary facilities, or organizing a place to rest and play with children. The main objectives of the Parent Zone programme are to provide sick children staying in hospital with their parents for as long as possible, to reduce stress caused by isolation and lack of contact with parents, to publicise the problem of limited contact between parents and children in paediatric wards and to reduce the time of children’s stay in hospitals.
