The construction of the new Warszawa Zachodnia Station has exceeded the 55% progress level. Over 0.5 thousand people and 200 units of equipment work on the construction site.

The General Contractor of the reconstruction – Budimex SA is entering the next phase of works. From December 11 (Sunday), equipment and builders will work on the old platforms, closer to Aleje Jerozolimskie numbered 3, 4 and 5. A new structure of the roof and passenger service elements will also be built over this part of the station: waiting room, benches, information boards, lighting, etc. Work will also continue underground – in a new tunnel at level -1 under the excluded platforms. A new track system with a catenary will be built on the surface. Budimex will also build a retaining wall on the eastern head of the station, which in the future will enable an additional connection between the tracks of the cross-city line. The construction of a new station hall from the side of Wola is also underway.

Due to the works, train traffic and passenger service from platforms 3, 4 and 5 will move to platforms 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9. To facilitate access to these platforms, an entrance to the footbridge was built from Aleje Jerozolimskie. The entire footbridge over the platforms will be open with entrances from both Ochota and Wola. Between the bus terminus at ul. Tunelowa, next to the exit from the footbridge and platform 9, Budimelex runs all the time for passengers. In the second half of 2023, platforms 5 and 4 will be opened successively, and then the works will move to platforms 1 and 2.

The works at the Warszawa Zachodnia station are one of the largest investments of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for over PLN 1.9 billion net. Implemented as part of the OPI&E 5.1-13 project entitled: “Works on the cross-city line in Warsaw on the section Warszawa Wschodnia – Warszawa Zachodnia”. Work began in December 2020. The completion of the investment is planned for 2024.

Warszawa Zachodnia is a strategic station in Poland in terms of the number of trains running. On average, about 1000 agglomeration, regional, long-distance national and international trains pass through it daily.
